LOL. Who needs math, it confusing. amirite?
You can make math and stats produce any value or answer you want it to. When humans define what math they use (as is the case with BPI, RPI, Sagarin, etc...), it is an inherently flawed decision to blindly trust it as "unbiased". Deciding what stats and weights do and do not make it "accurate" is a decision in bias and opinion, which makes it not much different than the eye test of AP voters. Kentucky is #5 in the BPI. That's ridiculous. Does anyone on this planet (outside of BBN) think Kentucky is the fifth best college basketball team this year? NO.

We've played 12 games against the BPI top 60 so far. In those, we are 8-4...not too shabby! We will get to 13 on Monday night with West Virginia...

Yeah, BPI is a bit crazy to suggest ISU's SOS is stronger than KU's. It's pretty much KU in all the other computer rankings (KenPom, Sagarin, RPI), and it should be just looking at their schedule. But ISU certainly has a case for having a top 10 SOS, which is still outstanding and will play well with the selection committee come seeding time.

I am looking past any team when I say this, but should we beat TCU (x2) and Tech at home even if lose some more games we won't have any 'bad' losses. That will serve us well come selection Sunday.

Is it necessary to **** in the wind over SOS? It's a hard schedule whether it's 1st, 5th, or 10th. Take it to the rivalry board. Are we here to talk about KU all the ******* time?

It better. We keep the wins up, and ISU should be a 2 or a 3 seed going into the Big Boy tourney.

That is called statistics, not Math.

Math = Finite
Statistics = shape your results to your focus group

That's the only place on the planet where Iowa State's SOS is tougher than Kansas. Kansas has FIVE games against RPI Top 10 teams; Iowa State has TWO. Kansas has TWELVE games against RPI Top 30 teams; Iowa State has SEVEN. I would think we will start to go down on strength of schedule now that we are getting to the weaker part of the conference schedule. Maybe I am wrong.

We'll go down but stay in the top 10. I think the RPI SOS is what matters most and we're #5 there.

Any way you slice it we'll be better off with the committee looking at RPI and SOS rankings than human voter polls, that is unless we start tearing it up every season for 5-10 years straight and we become the overrated brand team.

I could wrong but I don't think our RPI has been lower than 13th since the first weeks of the season.

Twocoach is honestly the most annoying Kansas homer I've ever encountered, and I've encountered my fair share of them.

His motto "I'm going to make a point, reiterate that point by saying the exact same thing, and then reiterate it some more."

Find a Kansas site to state your ****. No one here wants to hear it. Wanna post Hoibergs kid crying? Post it on emaw.

To think, Ellen was always joking around and got banned for it. You're just always being a troll that somehow stays on this site

Nice cut and paste from the ESPN site. How about the "Eye Test?" Kansas has the toughest overall schedule and it's really not very close.

I'll cut and paste your eyes if you'd like.

ISU has TWO games played against teams in the BPI Top 10; Kansas has FIVE. I would take ISU's schedule ALL DAY.

twocoach is another data point to support my argument that KU Sucks I am not talking about their results in Basketball games, I am talking about the general perception of KU which includes fans like you.

KU has been #1 or #2 virtually the entire season in RPI because of that schedule. They played a bunch of traditionally top non conf opponents, then Colorado and SDSU are better than anyone would have guessed when scheduled

SOS for various ratings:

BPI = #1 ISU, #2 KU
RPI = #1 KU, #5 ISU
KenPom = #1 KU, #4 ISU
Sagarin = #1 KU, #3 ISU

Saying KU has had a tougher schedule is fine. Saying KU has had a tougher schedule and it is not even close is ludicrous. I get it, you love KU. Guess what, WE DON'T. So get your biased opinions about KU off of the CYCLONE message board.

I love how the original post and discussion of there of is completely derailed once Twocoach enters the conversation. This guy Trolls Hard. The OP thoughtfully makes a factual observation, BPI says ISu has the toughest SOS. The OP did not mention or slight Kansas, or RPI SOS or anything that relates to Kansas. Yet twocoach has to swing in and belittle the OP's factual statement as if its an attack on KU. GO HOME TROLL.... Seriously, you rarely add anything meaningful to the conversation.

That bing said, yes, BPI is the only one that has ISU SOS listed as #1. I am surprised, as I don't think overall we have had the toughest SOS, the last 8 games yes, overall no.

Math and statistics are biased, but your so-called "eye test" isn't?

A couple of others: (Links are on Massey's comparison page: College Basketball Ranking Composite)

Least Squares = #1 KU, #2 ISU (this has been one of the top predictors of NCAA Tournament success)
Massey = #1 KU, #3 ISU
Stanford = #1 KU, #2 ISU
Breisch = #1 KU, #3 ISU
Whitlock = #1 KU, #2 ISU
Team Rankings = #1 KU, #4 ISU
Colley = #1 KU, #3 ISU

ISU is Top 5 in every one that I have found so far. Yes KU is #1, but #1 is close to #2, #3, #4 and #5. Only a biased person would say it is not.
