Sure, I just don't think having a post-game call in show is something to really brag about.
Agree. Listened to the Cyclone post-game call in show and it really did nothing. This message board is far more informative. The callers all seem to be "generic" fans who just rah-rah and don't really discuss the game.
Listened to the show just to hear the meltdown. When Ross made the “no call in show” comment I realized that hawk fans have really gotten too full of themselves. And then he said something about Iowa being “a national brand” and Iowa State isn’t. The post game butt hurt was amazing.

Maybe CW can fill a three hour void with Helmet Guy.

Never did I imagine that drunk asses calling Sound Off saying the same stuff for hours would be the pride of Hawk football. Pathetic.

Call in shows are essentially message boards for those too old or too stupid to figure out computers and smart phones. Which makes them so entertaining to listen to during a meltdown. Nothing better than to have the dumbest members of your fanbase be the public face of Iowa fans.

It's how Paul Finebaum has crafted his career. Just give the stupidest fans in Alabama and the SEC region an open mic and let them spout off.

The only reason I like the call in show is it pretty much gets me the last hour to CR. As far as Ross goes, don’t forget that @ChrisMWilliams has never been shy to point out that they had a multi hour show together for several years and he never did any prep work to plan the show. That should tell you all you need to know.

We parked at the university services building (free) just east of the river. Walked over to meet up with someone in the north lot of the stadium and then to a house on Melrose. Add in the time in the game and walking back and we were never once attacked or berated other than friendly banter. I mostly chalk it up to the teams performance and their lack of confidence.

I was there just a few rows behind the Iowa bench. Kirk chewed his gum a lot. Other than that I heard lots of boos. A fan threw a beer at X after his touchdown and almost hit Riley Moss instead.
I know multiple fans that have said they have had a full can beer chucked at them before going into the stadium. That's enough for me to never see a game there. I wouldn't go if it was free. Their fans suck. Every fan base has a wild wing to them, but theirs is worse, seriously.

This wasn’t at the stadium but in a bar in Cedar Falls, my buddy and I walked in and there wasn’t very many people. We walked in and this drunk 25 something punk told us to **** ourselves. We had ISU hats on.

I’m not one to let something like that go even though I should have. Plus I had had a few. Not sure he expected a middle age guy to call him on his ********. Some trash talking and his girl told him to shut his mouth before he got his ass kicked.

I’m just tired of Hawkeye fans and their ********

I'm one of those guys and I won't go back. Wasn't running my mouth, just walking down the sidewalk with I guess the wrong color shirt on. I went to two games there and can count 5 different incidents that were just over the top bad...including getting into a shoving match with some drunk dude who wanted to fight us because he got hit with a beer can that was aimed at us. I've seen bad stuff from ISU fans in Ames for that game as well, but IC is 10x worse. I'll never go back there. I applaud those ISU fans who make that trip to cheer on the team, but I'll be happy watching from home.

And seemingly NOTHING was done or said about it! At least I didn't hear anything said from the BTN announcers. The officials apparently didn't do anything. Nothing from the stadium announcer, I don't think.

You can't let stuff like that go.
Did anybody get a good view of Hawk fans throwing stuff on the field after Hutch’s TD? I was listening on the radio, Walters and Heft were saying it was unacceptable.
So yeah, John and Eric saw it and talked about it. But nothing still on Iowa's side? Strong culture over there if not.

I re-ran it about 10x. Couldn't believe it each time. Looked like a beer can to me.

What does it take for them do do something? Hit a player?

Has Iowa said anything about that kind of behavior, publically, yet?

Iowa City is the armpit of the whole state with how those drunks act. In the late Hayden Fry years things were getting thrown at the Iowa sideline by the Iowa fans all the time. They will eat their own eventually. And Kirk and Brian love their degenerate fans and their behavior, but now the fans will turn on them just like they did with Hayden Fry. This program will soon be cursed if they arent careful.

Who is Duke Slater?
A former Hawkeye black football player that they decided to name the field after only because they were forced to from all the racial allegations against the program from 60-70 former black players.

That's the kinds of things Iowa does to sweep things under the rug. Yeah, we were racist towards our black players.... but we named the field after a former black player now.... so it's all good, right?
Frederick Wayman "Duke" Slater (December 9, 1898 – August 14, 1966) was an American football player and judge. He was enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame in 1951[1] and was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Centennial Class in 2020.[2]

Both Iowa and the NFL trying to show they are NOT racist.
Looks like they named the field after him July, 2021.

In reality I'm guessing that is 90% plus of the fan base. Turn the Clones on Saturday for the game watch it go back to the rest of their lives. It's a diversion not a priority.

Gotcha beat. I haven't been there in 6. I don't plan on EVER stepping foot in that stadium. My wife thought the fans looked, "demonic."
I was last in Kinnick in 2000 and I don't foresee going back. Sat next to a friend of my hawk buddy from our cycling team. My buddy's friend just about got in a fight with another hawk fan in the stadium during the game.

My former tavernhawk wife was more irritated than I was. There was a group behind us trying to ride us hard. I just kept walking, I knew it was bothering them that We had ignored them the whole time , but my wife took a turn as soon as she could and said she had to get away from them asap. I laughed and said, you get used to them after a bunch of years and they wanted a response out of us.

She was more concerned about her oldest who had had a few when a dude was getting ready to fight him since he only waved about 2/3rds of the song. Dude was sitting in the ISU group and wanting to fight several people. Even another drunk Iowa kid who was in the wrong seats. The drunk Iowa kid immediately befriended us after the tuff guy went at him the first time.

I mean, it's not like it was that SEC game last year (was it Tennessee/Auburn) where it was raining water bottles. A couple random people throwing cans isn't great, but it's nothing to make a big deal over. I've seen all of one pic of one can on the field. I'm one of the first to condemn hoks on their crap, but I feel like this is NBD.

It’s their culture. We stood outside the barstool set up and the Hawkeyes were throwing stuff before the people even came out. My youngest said he say peioe spraying the crowd with their beers and drinks also. Then they pelted everyone on stage with stuff and even head shotted the pregnant woman. Throwing stuff is in their blood. You gotta stop that crap at some level or it will just keep growing

Idk if it was their pessimism over the offense but this is the least crap I've gotten in IC for this game. Had a few Kirkwood kids yelling '**** State' but other than that it was very tame. I noticed a ton of ISU fans there so maybe that also had something to do with it. Probably the most cardinal I've seen at this game both tailgating and in the stadium

They way Iowa fans hyped up kinnick I was expecting something a little nicer, honestly I was expecting something similar to OU stadium. Yeah, it’s NOT OUs stadium I can say. It’s historic because it’s old. Iowa should go and take a look at OUs stadium and see how they blended history with modern.

Does Iowa have electronic tickets? Or are they all paper?

Yet the touchy PI call on ISU, the picked up holding flag, and the sideline personal foul that’s a warning 99% of the time is conveniently absent from their analysis of the refs.
Plus, it happened with over 5 minutes left in the third. It’s not like it happened near the end of the game.
I hate when fans celebrate and direct it at the opposing fans. I don’t mind going nuts. If you direct it at other fans, like you did something, that’s bush league. We had Hawk fans next to us in Jack Trice last year and I had to tell the dudes wife that they are surrounded by people that are ready to kick his ass. She finally calmed him down. Cheer your ass off but be respectful.
yeah, from the sound of it those Iowa State fans were complete ******** and deserve a lot more than 50% of the blame

Yeah, I saw that video and it was disgusting. Not sure what the barstool guys said to fire up that crowd, so I'm missing some context probably. Still, even if they were saying their team sucked, you just boo you don't throw things at them.

They were throwing crap at him and yelling stuff that I didn’t catch but he did say to F off and to kiss his A type stuff.
