I'm not sure about that. Stanford's been so bad for so long, the fans just have to look at how bad the program was in '95 and where he's taken it to date. Mac's known for getting programs off the ground; that's where Stanford's at now.

Mac would do a good job there. You just have to know when to cut bait. ISU let him go 3 years too long. He should have been gone after 03. Mac did a great job bringing the program to a respectable level. He just could not get over the hump. He would be a great choice for a rebuilding program like Stanford.

i totally agree that he would be a great fit in Stanford or even Tulane, but whether he gets the job is another thing. Mac is a midwest type of guy and probably would prefer to stay in this area if all possible.

I'm not so sure Mac is a fit there...he recruited guys that ended up not going to Iowa State for grades and discipline issues. His recruiting classes looked better than they ended up. I agree he's a super speaker, motivator and all around nice guy. But to have to recruit upper end players who get good grades...that's not easy to do. Stanford has higher requirements than Iowa State..and it was a problem here. I like the Army job...he could go those guys fired up ready to run through a wall. And the Army would do the recruiting!

Rumor is Eric Price (Mike's son, UTEP OC) is looking at Tulane...or Tulane is looking at EP, however you want to put it.
