Nice win last night and now 6.5 back of the slumping Cubs. It feels like STL may have turned a corner so let's see if that holds up. Could make it a race for the division in September

One thing is probably for sure - only the winner of the division will go to the playoffs because I don't see anyone getting a wildcard.

The Cardinals are 1.0 GB of playing in the wild card game and 2.0 GB of hosting it. Not sure why you would say this in July.

I am looking forward to watching the Marlins beat the Cubs in the NL wild card game this year

Slumping? We have a collective 1.67 ERA since the break, and went 4-2 against 2 probable playoff teams, all while scoring 24 runs. Pretty sure that's enough evidence to say the slump has expired.

Cards are acting like the Cyclones this year. Just when you think they've turned a corner (Mets series), they go 2-3 and look bad doing it. If they can get hot they still have a chance. This team has yet to go on an extended winning streak this year. However, I just don't have a great feel about this team. I don't see it happening this year. I think the deadline moves (or lack thereof) showed what Mo is thinking too. Maybe they'll make some bigger moves in the off-season.

Cards are toast this season. Even if they make the second wildcard, it's just not happening. The tables are turned in this rivarly with Chicago. Cards are the ones that are finding ways to lose now while the Cubs have the killer edge. Props to the Cubs on making the plays needed to win. I'm not even going to be upset about the last strike/ball call because the Cardinals f'ed themselves many times way before that, just like most games this year.

I'm seriously starting to question Matheny's in-game management. The guy just does not handle a pitching staff well. Cardinals have really lost their edge that they had with LaRussa. When he was coaching, you always knew we'd have the edge on strategy.

I also thing Oquendo being gone has made a huge (negative) impact on this team. He's their "defensive coordinator" and one of the best. So many defensive issues with errors and plays that should've been made this year. I feel like the Cardinals are beating themselves in most of these games.
