No. Terrible yields mean higher commodity prices, which means we can charge more for a bag of seed and I can get paid! Drought this **** up! Hahaha
About an hour and a half after your post a tiny isolated shower hammered Ames for a good 30-45 minutes. Was exactly what we needed.

What a backwards temperature profile, expected highs today:
International Falls- 93
Minneapolis- 94
Sioux Falls- 92
Des Moines- 86
Kansas City- 83
Oklahoma City: 79
Any meteorologist types want to comment on why over the last months the South (especially Texas on up to Arkansas, and east) are rainy, cloudier and cooler than usual? Is it a passive end of La Niña?

Well, poops. Looked at forecast. Tomorrow will hit 9th day in a row in the 90's. Crazy stupid hot for spring in Minnesota. Only chance of rain is scattered thunderstorms tomorrow than another week of hot Sahara. Weird stuff, man.

It's still spring. My forecast based on what we've seen so far.....

I got caught biking in it. We could see the rain shafts off to the west as we headed north. It went from a sprinkle to a light rain and then the heavens opened up. A road bike in that stuff was let’s say an eye opener.

I just set my personal high temp record for biking on Friday at 97 so decided to let that stand and stayed in most of yesterday.

However, will have to go out today for a fitness ride. Going to take it easy though.

I hate the heat but decided last weekend that I need to start acclimating so I don't die on my bike races this summer. So the good news is that now that I'm preparing for hot dry bike races the weather pattern will likely shift. Kind of like when I remember my rain jacket the storms miss us but if I forget it then we'll get dumped on. You're welcome.

Nothing just east of Ames. We need rain or it’s gonna get bad.
Water restrictions in Denison, Harlan and the Shelby County Rural water district. I was told this at a meeting today. Water restrictions in a packing plant community? Buy more meat now? I think I will switch to the smoker/grilling thread, its better news.

I got caught a couple weeks ago in HEAVY rain between Huxley and Ames. I found a small machine shed with an overhang over the door. Not a fun experience. Hahaha

Neighbor who farms the ground around my brother's place outside State Center told him today he may have a repeat of 1977. His corn was done by July 4th.

Curious to what number he planted because most hybrids are fairly robust in their resistance to drought as compared to 45 years ago. Also I guess what ground he is working would affect it also. Growing up we had ground that on a normal year half of it would be no yield because it would be too wet. On years like this year it would out yield everything else by a large margin. Very wet ground. I imagine if what he is saying is true then he must have some dry ground working. Not good.
