..... with losses to the top two Big12 teams.

We will get snubbed just like KState, because the name, ISU, isn't "flashy" enough..?

In order to ever make a BCS bowl we could only have one loss.

And no, I am no saying we will be 10-2 next year or anytime soon, just some hypothetical thoughts.

It depends on other issues than just our record. Who is out there to take ahead of us...Michigan State got bit in the behind as well...

So...I agree with the statement that if we did go 10-2 we would get left out...if the scenario was just like this year's situation.

If we got to play in the Cotton Bowl against one of the top SEC teams, I wouldn't be too disappointed. KSU didn't get in the BCS, but the Cotton Bowl is a far better matchup then some of the BCS bowls.

10-2 probably wouldn't get ISU into a BCS bowl. The BCS bowls ignored the #8 10-2 K-State Wildcats. The BCS At Large invitations have NOTHING to do with the best teams. Michigan and Va Tech in the Sugar Bowl. Two teams that suck.

Not neccesarily. CPR is loved by national media and we don't play the same ugly (albeit effective) offense that K-State does. They also win games ugly, which makes them less appealing to the human voters. An ISU 10 win season would be considered by most fans to be a Cinderella-type run and would get lots of love from national media (see #9 ranking in '02).

The Cotton bowl is a better matchup but there's 2 glaring differences between the Cotton Bowl and a BCS bowl.
1. BCS bowls payout ~$17 million vs Cotton bowl's $3.6 million.
2. The overall prestige of playing in a BCS bowl >>>>> Cotton Bowl.

No different than basketball. We win Big 12 (or was it 8 at that time?) season + tournament and don't get a 1 seed in the tourney. No respect.

Let's hope Grandpa Bill and his violet kitties have a huge chip on their shoulder going into Texas. I'm pretty sure he won't do it but I wouldn't mind seeing him run up the score.

And let me say this, if Okie St and KSU were called Oklahoma and Texas this year, the Big 12 would have a team in the National Championship and another in the Fiesta Bowl.

depends on when you lose the 2 games to.....if ISU lost to Iowa and then Oklahoma then ran the table, i would think that would put them in the top 10 in the country and in the BCS.

Nope. Iowa would be considered a "bad loss". They would take a 2 loss Michigan team that played 2 Top 25 teams all year. BCS bowls are a complete joke. Just as well fill them out in September. We keep getting the same old, same old rammed down our throats. ESPN is driving the whole thing. Look who they have their contracts with. Follow the money. They have been pushing Michigan for a couple of weeks now since their historic win over a 6-6 tOSU team. And calling it a "great win". And they talk about Okie State's bad loss but ignore Okie State's good wins. Who are Bama's good wins over?

It all depends on how you look compiling said 10-2 record.
Not all 10-2's are created equal.

Maybe if we had a Heisman candidate playing for us and the Hok trolls not working the message boards, we might get an invite.
