BoxsterCy,
I sure understand.I'm a little bit of a gun freak. I have my grandpa's Mod 97. It is really beat up, but the metal work is in top shape. I have a little Winchester 9mm rimfire shotgun. It was a pest gun. Another funny thing, I have a wildcat cartridge that I call a 17Zombie killer. It is a 458Lott cartridge shortened and necked down to 17cal. I need to post a photo of this.

In the $200 to $500 range, you won't be able to find an autoloader (think $1,000+ for an autoloader). The Benelli Nova or SuperNova would be awesome at that price range (will eat anything, plus can shoot 3-1/2" shells if you ever got into waterfowling). Remington 870 is the classic pump shotgun. One thing about pump shotguns - you won't have any trouble cycling light target loads, which some autoloaders struggle with (not enough force from the light loads to cycle the action properly).

I agree that the Remington 870 Wingmaster is the classic pump shotgun. Great quality, smooth action.

I would also not prefer a pump for shooting skeet/trap/sporting clays only, but would ideally go for a decent over/under or side by side. You can find a basic o/u or s/s right at that $500 range.

For reference, I own or have owned a Benelli Super Black Eagle (12ga), Winchester SX3 (12ga), Browning Goldhunter (20ga), Huglu 201a (12ga side by side). I have also spent some time shooting a Browning Citori (12ga), Benelli Nova (12ga), and a Remington 870. I think that is all of them...

Which one did you like the best? I really want a Winchester SX.

I was actually looking at the Remington 870 so I am glad that I wasn't completely off base. Thanks for the suggestions.

DNRT, but I was going to suggest this. Remington 870 is about as bulletproof as you can get. If you're a good shot, you can shoot just as good with this as a gun that costs 4x as much.

I actually still use the youth model 870 I've had from as a kid. Nice for pheasant hunting, because it's light to carry and doesn't make your back hurt at the end of the day from carrying it.

I still have the Benelli SBE (black synthetic, use for rough conditions like waterfowling and nasty weather & all purpose gun), Winchester SX3 (upland stuff mostly or target games), Browning GH (I dont carry the 20 ga anymore but my sister does and my kids will), and the Huglu (carry for upland or target games when I want the classic side by side).

I love them all and use them all for their purpose. The SX3 is awesome, lighter than my SBE. The action is very smooth and the gun points and swings really nice.

No gun can compare to how good the Browning Maxus is.

That seems quite extreme. I'm sure there are many guns that compare to the Maxus. Like the Benelli Vinci for example. I'm sure Beretta has one that plays in that category, too.

For the record, I like Benelli, Beretta, and Browning (and others). Your comment sounds extremely "sales pitchy", if you know what I mean.

Aim for the head.... That's the only way to kill those damn zombies....

When facing multiple zombies you can slam fire the old model 97's WWI trench cleaning style.
