Apparently Sean Miller likes life better at Xavier than out in Arizona as he's apparently turned down the Arizona coaching job. Wonder who they end up getting?

That one is a bit of a slap in the face.

Maybe people are starting to learn a little extra money isn't everything when there is ridiculous pressure on you to win big.

These coaching searches at Memphis and AZ are turning into a fiasco - I wonder who they will get and how good they'll be in a few years.

Re: Sean Miller turns down Zona

Zona is going to be bad next year if they lose Budinger, Hill, and their PG. Not many coaches want to take over w/ the little talent they will have.

Plus it really doesn't have much history minus what Lute Olsen did there. I don't know if I would consider it that great of a job

And from what I understand the facilities are sub-par too. This has been a real wake-up call for all the U of A fans who thought this was a Top 10 job in the country. They were expecting either Pitino or Izzo. I'm sure they'll get a quality coach, but recruiting is going to be tough.

It's Tubby time somewhere. I know he says he is happy in Minnesota, but he had to enjoy the big stage just a bit, right? Everyone has an itch.....

Yeah they are crazy. Why would those coaches leave better programs, w/ better tradition, in better conferences for Arizona.

I think you could make a case for it not even being a top 25 coaching job in the country

Xavier is NOT a better job than Arizona. It doesn't have better tradition or a better conference. This was a DUMB move on his part. That's how good coaches become great. They make a mid major good. Then move to a big time conference team with some tradition and make them great.

However, it is a great move if he wants to take the reigns of a Big East team, say, Pitt, after Dixon gets courted away.

It's not a dumb move at all. Arizona is a program not many coaches want to take over right now. They don't have that great of recruits in the pipeline as a lot de committed after Lute F'd them over. They are losing their 2 best players and possibly their 3rd as well.

It is a job where they have some serious rebuilding to do and fans who won't be patient in doing so. Sean Miller can and will get a much better job. His patience is smart

Little harsh there, brother. I mean, he did have a stroke last year. A doctor advised him to step down or die.

Re: Sean Miller turns down Zona

Sounds like they may have to settle for the Utah coach. So much for getting a top guy

Not harsh at all. The guy left the team right before the season started and I have never heard anything about this doctor advising him.

Read this article University of Arizona announces Lute Olson's retirement - ESPN

The guy divorced his second wife and remarried a 40 some year old lady 5 months later. He took the season off to deal w/ stress from the divorce. He than came back to coach, FIRED O'neil who ran the program while he was gone, and quit right before the season.

Re: Sean Miller turns down Zona

Was this before or after he won a national championship at a school with zero tradition?

If you read what I said, you would know that it was after. He has screwed them over 2 straight years now and it is b/c of his personal life.

He did. But that was about a year before he retired. The guy waited until right before the season started to retire. He lost them some very very good recruits and stuck the players w/ another interim head coach for the second straight year

Re: Sean Miller turns down Zona

I think Lute Olson has proven to be a real A-hole in how he has handled this program for the last 3 years. He has really handicapped the whole basketball program IMO, and all because of his own selfish reasons.

Maybe Steve Alford can find an opening to get back to the big time at 'Zona. Oh excuse me, to get back to the mid time.
