It is closer in bball, but rivals>>>>> ESPN. I would say this either way. Thomas is #58 and Morris is like #91

I don't pay much attention to ESPN rankings. They promote the SEC in football and the Big 10 in basketball, and their recruiting rankings usually reflect that bias.

Yeah, I think ESPN just hates any Big XII team not named Texas. I'm not shocked, nor do I care. It's Fred that makes these guys winners, not the idiots that watch youtube videos of basketball players and rank them on how good they are.

Honestly, Isaiah Austin was the 4th best player in the nation according to Rivals. Is he really? No. Will he be a great player SOMEDAY? Probably in the NBA, yes. But was he really the 4th best high schooler coming into college? No. Probably not even a top 50.

Austin not a top 50 freshman? He's dominating. 14 ppg and 9.7 rebounds as a freshman is outstanding. Facepalm

Telep tweeted me back saying some question what position he'll play in college and that he barely missed the top 100.

I hate when people act lik they don't care about rankings. Instead they try to come up with a funny response. Do you not want to get any respect? You can't tell me Morris and Thomas got worse so why such a big drop? Monte the 6 th best player in Michigan? Yeah right.

Rivals has him the 5th best in Michigan and ESPN 6th. Not a big deal

Niang's ranking wasn't higher because they didn't know how his game would translate to the next level. There's a reason why Fred is a coach and these guys rape people willing to pay for subscriptions to this stuff.

Monte will play guard.

I get what you're saying, but the ratings change. It has nothing to do with players getting better or worse, just more evaluation. There are tons of factors that could have effected it, none of which have anything to do with ISU. There is very little difference between guys in the top 100, except for maybe the guys at the top, the rest is meaningless. In the end, IMO we are still getting 2 really solid players who will end up helping our program. Where they are rated doesn't mean much the minute they step on campus.

The thirst for validation is an interesting phenomenon which many fortune tellers have learned to exploit.

Don't stop believing. I see great things in your future. Please send me a check, and I will tell you more.

I can tell you that Hoiberg pays a lot of attention to rankings. And I can bet you that at this time he is thinking about pulling Monte's and Thomas' scholarship. Then Fred will log on to espn.com to see who the new number 34 and 82 are, so that he can offer them the 2 scholarships.

To be honest, I am betting Morris's ranking dropped due to his competition level. He has excellent numbers that I would bet stack up to almost anyone in the country at his position so imo, dropping him that much is absurd.
