Hot take alert. The Lanning Hype was way overblown.

Can I point out that in Barkley's two most important games of the season he averaged 54 rushing yards and 28 receiving yards on 21 touches. Great player right there.

He's made a season off destroying bad teams like Iowa. He's a good RB but incredibly overrated.

He went over 100 yards 4 times

There is an argument for him winning it. That is why he was a finalist. But this nonsense like he got robbed and Barkley didn't deserve it is just fan bias.

What did Barkley do to deserve it though? Compile more stats? He's a running back who caught passes and returned kicks. Like 100s of other RBs this season.
He's second in All Purpose yards, so it makes sense he's a finalist, but did he do anything really that special?

Hey, I didn't invent the trophy and whoever they want to give it to is their business. But if the criteria is most versatile and a player who plays multiple positions I think it clearly should have gone to Lanning.

It's one of several 2nd place Heisman awards Barkley will get. Good for him.
