So I am in need of some new tunes to listen to while I am running, any fellow Cyclone favorites that I should add? Obviously it helps if the song is very fast / up-tempo. Thanks!

I've found that having songs I like is more important than up-tempo/fast songs.

If I hear a song that's just blown me away recently, I put that on, even if it's mellower or slow.

I just need something to put me in a good mood. For running, more often than not, that's a more aggressive/upbeat song, but it doesn't have to be. Just go with what you really enjoy.

To give a more specific recommendation, the most recent Foo Fighter album is pretty damn awesome for running.

I was just going to start a thread asking for the same help. I agree with the OP that I'm looking for songs that are of a fast, up-tempo variety.

Basically, I put whatever kinds of songs I would listen to before a game. Stuff that gets me psyched up. For me, that's a lot of Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, a little Eminem, and Skillet.

Those are some good choices as I have several of those artists already especially Skillet - Monster and Hero are awesome songs.:smile:

Agreed, those are two of my favorite songs from Skillet. Awake and Alive, and Comatose are also legit.

Metallica is my favorite band and I always enjoy listening to them while I run... And lately I've thrown in a lot of Avenged Sevenfold as well.

I like anything with a consistent, 4/4 beat when running. Lcd soundsystem, daft punk, win win, the hold steady, japandroids, !!!, fela kuti are all good,

I know Skillet has been out for awhile but recently came across them in the last year. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll be sure to try them out.

when I run I listen to a band, whom I met in Louisiana - from Louisiana, called The American Tragedy. Kind of an Indie Band (which never has been my taste in music)but the sounds they make are perfect (in my opinion) for running. Keeps pretty good time. Check them out on youtube or go to cdbaby.com or just do a search - you can listen to samples of their songs.

As SDillion500 stated: Anything with a good 4/4 time works well.

I haven't listened to music for quite awhile running . . . but have some new Sennheiser sports headphones and want to put together my own list.

This one has always worked for me:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgDrJ5Z2rKw"]James Brown - I Feel Good - YouTube[/ame]

Night Train is even more up tempo, good beat if you click through to all the live versions on You Tube. Click through to the Amazon link below this You Tube (at You Tube), and I see they have a high quality, more uptempo (than this) live version on MP3.

Not sure this would work for slow, but I like it. Mmmmm Dee Dee . . . in this movie clip I think that is an actress lip syncing though, not her:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NTPN2jkIhKo"]Chubby Checker & Dee Dee Sharp - Slow Twist.VOB - YouTube[/ame]

I like Bo Diddley:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=979rwnVPG4A"]Bo Diddley - YouTube[/ame]

. . . and Wanda Jackson . . . . . . . . . done got hip to your jive

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1sFpCNlbJ8&feature=BFp&list=FLYatKNZu-fHDYlYnfE1YQkQ"]Wanda jackson slippin and slidin - YouTube[/ame]

And since we are so big on Texas, our friends in Austin . . .

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6alMntvDZB8"]Route 66 - Asleep At The Wheel - Live.avi - YouTube[/ame]

A little more SEC (warning, louder):

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Onfce-UNmmE"]George Jones - White Lightning - YouTube[/ame]

And if that wasn't corny enough . . . one for the younger set . . . wunnerful wunnerful (is that you woodie?)

Sorry, I know, I got a little out of hand.

Like Al_4_State, I like something that makes me feel good primarily, so it doesn't have to be too upbeat. But something more heavy metal would probably work for me, maybe even better. American Tragedy, per brother bob above, sounds pretty good:

Anyone ever run to the Pete Taylor radio clips set to music? That gets me more JACKED UP than anything recently.
