Personally, I'd avoid Rodney Coe and it has nothing to do with his gun pics. Just seen too many reports that he's lazy. ISU needs guys on the edge with a motor. They play way too many spread teams to have a run plugger there or someone who plays half speed most of the time. As for Jackson, he may be a really good player, but I just don't see the need. They return every RB next year, so I don't see any reason to bring in two JUCO RBs.

Do these reports say whether or not he sweats?

DE is a position we can afford to take a chance on... we NEED pass rushers bad, and maybe coe can be that guy. i don't get why we would sign jackson though. that would give us 9 or 10 scholly RBs next year (i know 3 are seniors, but still...). i like wimberly, and i hope he redshirts next year if that is a possibility. or maybe he moves to CB.

I posted this also in the other thread regarding Don Jackson, but hopefully both Wimberly and Jackson have RS years still left to burn?

If not, this doesn't make any sense whatsoever to bring in 2 JUCO's next year IMO. We will be using up 2 scholarships for 2 years, and only getting one year out of them since neither Wimberly or Jackson will play ahead of Shontrelle, White, Woody, or probably even Nealy next season.

“To be honest, Iowa State is looking really good to me right now,” Coe said. “I’ve been talking to them a lot and that’s my No. 1 right now.

“The (Iowa State) coach is supposed to be talking to me again here soon. I might go take a visit there with one of my teammates, (Iowa State running back commit) Aaron Wimberly. Hopefully by the end of this month I’ll have a decision.”

I agree. I think Wimberly does have a RS year left, and the commit makes way more sense if he does, because undoubtedly SJ and JW will be the top 2 RBs next year.

I didn't follow IWCC at all, but who had the better season Mr. Jackson or Mr. Wimberly?

Wimberly's line: 155 rushes, 1150 yards, avg: 7.4 ypc and 13 Tds added 10 receptions for 144 yards. He also had an 89 yard KO return for a TD.

Jackson: 66 rushes for 574 yards avg 8.7 ypc and 5 tds 4 rec. for 45 yards

Aaron was pretty clear no. 1 guy but Jackson had a good year too. He is only a freshman per the Reivers website.

Edit: Nate beat me to it.

Love Wimberly's stats. Anyone who thinks he will automatically be playing behind SJ & JW might be surprised. He has what SJ & JW don't have, size. I love Woody, but Wimberly seems like a good combination between the two.

I believe he's had enough of playing behind Wimberly.

Iowa Western Community College - NJCAA Stats

wouldn't have made a lot of sense to take two juco RB in this class, not sure it really makes sense to even take one as we will have 3 good SR RB's next year. I guess it helps space out the classes though, now we'll have 3 sr's, 1 jr, 2 soph next season. Nonetheless, it appears Jackson will have 3 to play 3 as he is listed as a freshman on that link.

he also got fewer carries than vernard roberts. don't know if that was because of injury though. no rivals profile for roberts.

size? not really

wimberly 5'11" 180lbs
SJ 5'9" 190lbs
Nealy 5'10" 185lbs
White 5'8" 190
Woody 6'1" 240lbs
Standard 5'10" 190lbs

he may be an inch or two taller than most of our guys, but he weighs less than ALL of them. with a side by side comparison he'll look like a string bean. In undergrad i was a cut 5'11" 180lbs. I did not look like a collegiate "power" back by any stretch of the imagination.

Whie- 5'8 190
Johnson 5'9 190

not sure there really is a difference, except height.
