Isn't the one and only Discombobulated the only member to be banned? Boy I don't miss his pessimism one little bit.

He who shall not be named was placed in the same pit as the thread that shall not be named.

I thought we were allowed to talk about fallen heroes, just not fallen threads about certain insane celebritys and certain underground bunkers.

Disco bob, was a legend. I would loved to have seen a matchup between him and Roger.

I hope he gets (if not already) an IP ban, as I can think of a couple other people eerily similar...

Hmm... I'm not sure how to tell if there is an IP ban on someone (I can look someone up by IP, but can't tell that). The tough part of IP's (as you obviously know) are when a business or dorm or something only has one IP address that shows up for all users. We have external IP's at our work because we have customers dial our computers so that we can do troubleshooting, but most businesses don't have that.

I actually didn't know that, I'm pretty much computer ********. But if you would ban the IP address, wouldn't you be able to tell from an influx of emails saying that they're banned?

I also know there is a way to change your IP, as well as use someone else's IP, for reasons I don't want to get into, other than I was a punk in HS.

Oh, sorry - hope I didn't offend. You know a lot about IP's for someone who is "computer ********"! :notworthy: Yeah, I would think that a lot of people would e-mail (unless, of course, they couldn't get to the site to get Jer's info). I know that's happened in the past when someone was banned who shared an IP with several other site members.

LOL - yup, there are all kinds of ways to mask your IP. That's the hard part. The database tracks all of the different IP's from which someone signs in - I guess that someone who's IP changes drastically (different servers, etc.) every time they log in might be a red flag unto themselves? I travel a ton for work, but my home and work IP's are always pretty similar.

That, for most people would probably be a bad idea to send off a red flag. I know many people log on at both work and home (different IP's), and students themselves, could have even more than that. Personally, I log on regularly in 4 different computer labs on campus, my personal computer, my girlfriend's computer, my sister's computer, and my parents' computer. That's seven different IP's, unless the University has one IP address for all the labs and what-not.

IP addresses are much like regular addresses in that they the indicate geographical location. Thus, for the university all of the IP addresses will only differ in the last few digits.
