"G-League coach making less than $100,000 unwilling to take millions from Power 6 college job".

That's an awkward flight back to OKC...

This might be my favorite "coaching update" post today.
I know. I got a good laugh from it.

It’s pretty alarming to see TJ finish 7th when he probably has a top 2 talented roster in the Mountain West. What’s going to happen when he has the 5th most talented team in the Big 12? We all know what that will mean.
How soon will we have the 5th most talented roster by recruiting rankings? A big part of having upper half talent has been roster fit and good coaching putting guys in position to succeed.

Your Grandmother is a Liar.

What will that mean? Please tell us.
It doesn't bode well for a program that will likely never have the highest ranked recruiting classes in the conference. Yes, getting guys is step 1 for TJ to be successful, but it's far from the only step.

At this point if TJ is the coach, I don't agree with what JP is doing by not just announcing it now. I am sure he wanted to wait until the end of the week, but that's not feasible after last night without the whole thing turning into a s**tshow which we are seeing.

If it is TJ when the announcement happens it will certainly be anti-climatic. Hope he doesn't have him walking down a couple fights of stairs at Hilton to a hand full of students and a make shift band.

Maybe he’s taking a pay-cut to hire a real coach as an assistant?
Wayne Morgan isn’t that good of coach but he got to the tournament. Then again, Morgan’s best team had our second best defense in 20+ years, and it was because of the system Morgan ran.

It's all about recruiting. X's and O's are overrated.

Sources close to the situation have confirmed that Pollard and Gibbs were unable to reach an agreement today. Apparently they weren’t on the same page as far as pay, which makes sense because I would imagine Jamie is wanting to bring in someone for less money.

However, my sources have told me Jamie is zeroing in on his guy and an announcement is expected by Monday, potentially even as early as this weekend.
If this is true Gibbs is a big silly goose.

If JP is smart, he'll announce TJ on a pre-recorded message with just him and TJ in JP's office.

If he walks him out as a surprise announcement with a small number of students and fans present..... he will risk getting booed.
There is no chance of gathering people together for an announcement.

Sure you can. Just spread them out at Hilton in HAZMAT suits with the lights flashing off and on to the music and TJ at center court in a leisure suit doing his best rendition of Saturday Night Fever.

5th most talented roster? What job is TJ being considered for?

Is there any benefit to not announcing from a recruiting/recruit contact point of view? Maybe he resigned at UNLV but not yet signed with us so he is free from rules can still contact recruits committed to unlv? Just a thought...

Today and this thread might have been my favorite day on CF in many, many years. It’s had a little everything:

-Panic & anger that it’s TJ
-Bargaining that it’s not him
-Pork planes and Menards planes landing in Ames
-Grant Gibbs flying commercially to Ames to accept the ISU job only to turn around and fly back after turning down millions
-More flight trackers
-Literally no real data or information related to the actual coaching search

Thread of the decade. I cannot wait until tomorrow. Well done everyone.
