Again, I bet UNLV doesn't make us pay his buyout. I bet they are relieved, if not thrilled.

Let’s hope his comments about it being a long rebuild are less foretelling.

No **** it’s a long rebuild, you extended a bad coach and then two years later replaced him with a risky hire that hadn’t proved he can win in the MWC let alone rebuild a Big 12 program
Alabama went from losing to Iowa State to a 2 seed in a year
And we had an example of someone who could rebuild in 1 year just a decade ago.

I just want to watch ISU win and our players enjoying their time here. Hopefully TJ can bring the magic back. He certainly seems like someone who loves ISU and can recruit the Midwest/Great Lakes. Again if this report is true.

I want to reiterate that absolutely nothing has been confirmed here. There is one story that was written and there's already another report out of Vegas with conflicting information. People have either retweeted the original story or regurgitated the same information, which is not the same as confirming. There is nothing confirmed at this point and to call anything official is disingenuous at best. When there is something to confirm, I can promise you we'll let you know. We're very much not there yet.
So...couldn't CW just text him and ask to get a confirmation...then tell his employee (you) to confirm? ;-)

So could Caleb Grill transfer back and be immediately eligible even though he's already used one waiver? 40% serious question

What I think and want is besides the point. I didn't like how it was handled in 2015 and how it was handled this time.

Listen to TJ's friends. They LOVE him. Jamie obviously LOVES him. They are probably on to something.

I'll say this - I have nothing in particular against TJ but he's not a proven winner yet. If this report is true, then it entirely wreaks of nepotism. Him knowing ISU counts for something, but it shouldn't count against the other candidates. This isn't how things should actually work in the real life, and as someone who has interviewed and hired hundreds of people in the last handful of years - it's hard. It's hard not to be biased like this but you have to do it otherwise it'll come back to bite you in your own ass eventually.

Imagine being someone like Craig Smith, who has gone 74-23 in 3 years at Utah State, and you don't get hired because a guy you've beaten "knows the school better."

I will want to know what's going on, but if JP just rushed for this - not only is it not good but I have lost a lot of respect for him as a human being for basically making a nepotism play.

TJs ability to do the job is secondary to the search “process”. Unreal.

That process is generally needed to determine that ability as measured against other options. Particularly when with a non-basketball guy like JP, proximity bias, and a weak resume candidate that just had a bad year.

This is about JP imo. It could workout, we’ll likely know by late April whether the haste was justified, but often the process is more indicative of the job done than the outcome. An option trader can get lucky with a naked position, but that doesn’t mean you want them running your shop.
