Second time I've seen a Kane comparison. IMO not close. If I had to compare, not as quick as Kane, but body of nader/Burton (7ft wingspan and built, similar games too) scoring ability from all three levels and craftyness and vision like Niang(there will never be another georges), but in the end, he will be the one and only THT

Yeah, I see a lot of Nader in his game. The ISU weight room is going to do wonders for that kid.

Holy crap that's awesome. The future for this program is bright! Lots of young talent aboard. Great work Prohm and staff! Hopefully you've made believers out of everyone. It not, then they're hopeless

Another article that talks about how all this went down, though the quote from THT's mom doesn't exactly confirm what they imply.

"So on Thursday, those who know Horton-Tucker said he was forced to pick Iowa State by default.

After the announcement, his mother, Shirley, reached out to Illini fans through Kedric Prince, a freelance writer for the Dispatch-Argus.

“I would like to tell all the Illini fans … we love how classy they are. On our visit we can honestly say we never experienced anything like it. We know you love your basketball and it was truly obvious to my family, especially Talen. We did what we had to do and what was best for Talen.”"

Seems like a nice way to reach out to the instate fans and tell them it was a hard choice, not that it was one he had to pick by default. Classy comment being used politically, IMO.

Also, I will never not love these types of quotes:

"Meanwhile, Iowa State coach Steve Prohm has cleaned up in the state of Illinois, getting commitments from the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4-ranked players — Corliss big man George Conditt, Hinsdale South’s Zion Griffin and now Horton-Tucker, a 6-5 wing with a big upside."

I really hope that THT loves Ames like all our other guys do, and that that creates a nice little pipeline over to a great Chicago basketball tradition.

Whether this is all true or not, I can't say (it does seem to be the accepted narrative, however), but the writer only discusses why he didn't end up at Illinois - he doesn't even mention the words "Iowa State." That's some crappy journalism.

He writes for an Illinois paper. The story there is MIF AAU program going absolutely crazy.

We've been on the unlucky side of crap like this for a while. We got lucky here. And let me tell you guys, we need to be 100% behind this kid and his mom. I hope the very best for him and I expect to see him on the ISU NBA wall some day.

It’s clear the Illinois fans made an impact on him. I’m guessing the post that our staff was worried about Illinois tweets were true.

Hey, guys. Congrats on the pickup! I'm definitely going to have to watch you guys play (and beat) Iowa now. Really wanted this guy, and I'm disappointed with what transpired. If all accounts are accurate, it's a shame what Illinois put him through, and it's frankly embarrassing. I'm glad that he's landing in a good situation with you guys. I'm sure we'll continue to compete for recruits.

Good luck!

Best of luck to the real UofI. Illini are my Big 10 team to cheer for.

Which begs the question, if every program in the nation tweets at recruits, are we at a disadvantage at times trying to play by the letter of the law (not according to our recruiting right now, I suppose). You could tell that THT was really affected by the amount of love Illini fans were showing him on social media, and if turned loose, I have no doubt that our fans could match that.

At the Thanksgiving tournament in Niceville, FL in 2015, I have to say that I really liked the Illini fans. Frankly, they reminded me of ISU fans. (UAB fans, on the other hand, were among the most despicable I've encountered ...)

This doesn't feel wrong to me. We had posters telling us days ago if Ayo signed to Illinois THT would be choosing ISU or Xavier. I find this whirlwind of the last 24 hours hard to believe. My take this is just social media fantasy.

Again the kid took the visit to Illinois, after the Ayo announcement, Illinois did not say do not show up. Clearly at that time there was an offer on the table.

It sure seems like they thought they could work it out, by the middle of this week it was not going to happen, scholly was pulled.

While crystal balls are not a perfect system, it was trending heavily to Illinois, til yesterday.

Personally I never care how a kid ends up here if ISU wanted him, Dad hoping his son will follow him to the school where he participated in sports. A school is forced to pull a scholly because the handlers of a 5 star guy, are saying they will never send a kid to Illinois, if the allow a 4 star kid to play there.

About time ISU is on the credit side of the ledger on these things.

Results are the same and that is all that matters.

That part is 100% on the Illinois staff. You have to have that **** completely worked out in advance, or you look like, well, like they do now.

We've been on the unlucky side of crap like this for a while. We got lucky here..... we need to be 100% behind this kid and his mom.....

After the UNLV crap we did have one go our way. While we were fortunate that the Illini supposedly had negative stuff behind the scenes, our luck would have never happened without a lot of hard work by Coach Prohm and staff. THT left the mess and headed for the stability, opportunity, and promise in Ames. The support of rabid Hilton Magic fans is a given.
