RECRUITING: J.J. McCarthy visiting this weekend

Looks like 2021 Illinois quarterback J.J. McCarthy will be visiting Ames for a spring practice this weekend.



McCarthy came on Iowa State's radar last summer following his performance at one of the program's satellite camps. He ended up coming to Ames for one of the on-campus camps a couple weeks later and was given a scholarship offer.

Iowa State is his only offer right now but I'm sure it will not be long before that changes. I'll have more on spring practice visitors here in the next couple days.

It would be interesting to know how many 1st offers CMC extends. I'm pretty confident it's in "THE PLAN" and a way to win battles against other programs. Of course, the constant attention given. You hear recruits say, " ISU has been there from the beginning."

I tend to agree but then I remember that Angelina tongued her brother on stage and wore a vial of Billy Bob's blood around her neck. She may have righted her sanity ship a little, and only a little.

Welcome to the world of college sports recruiting. My 2021 daughter (softball) has been doing camps/recruiting since 7th grade. We personally know two 2021s from our area that are verballed already (to Auburn and Michigan), and she has played against several more. Florida and Auburn have recently verballed 2023s. It's gotten ridiculous.

They are voting this spring on a measure that would outlaw softball recruiting contact until September 1st of their junior year. i hear it will pass. Lord, I sure hope it does.
