Wow. That is not true.

How is that not true? You aren't even on the same planet that you were in 2000 and 2001. Not even close.

Your program lost 12 games last year and will lose at least 8 or 9 this year. Those teams lost 5 and 6 games each, so your current program is losing roughly twice as much over the same 2 year period. You have a nice home team this year and are mediocre to bad on the road. The 2000 and 2001 teams were flat out good and top level teams.

How can any of you with a straight face argue that the current program is in the same realm or "as strong as it has ever been"? That is an insult to your 2000 and 2001 teams.

It isn't like Iowa State is going to be all that much better next year than they are now. You lose your two best players and, sorry, the transfer from Northern Illinois/Marquette and Clayton Custer aren't going to make you a top level team. You are looking at another upper mid-level Big XII finish next year and a 5-6 seed at best in the tourney.

I am amazed at your ability to predict the future

Those were better teams, but the program was not as strong. Those teams were because of Fizer and Tinsley, and didn't have nearly the underclass men talent and stability that the program does now.

Does anyone on these boards actually ever discuss anything or answer a direct question?

How is the program "as strong as it has ever been"? Explain it and feel free to tell me how your teams are in any way better than your 32-5 2000 team and 25-6 2001 team. You had multiple high level NBA draft picks on those teams.

Someone please explain this.

And to be honest the league wasn't nearly as strong in 2000 and 2001.

Mangino seems more like a "Back in the high life again" type of guy.

I'm not ******** you, I used to sit out on the front lawn of my house in college in a lawn chair with a case of High Life blasting that song like it was my business. Nothing starts summer for me like that song.

And last year we lost 5 of our 7 best player, relaxing them with 2 freshman, an unrated JUCO and a troublemaker turnover machine. We weren't supposed to be better this year, but we are. Because of the program strength.

Consistent, sustainable 5 seed, top 25 teams is a better program position than two 2-seeds preceded and followed by sub-.500 dumpster fires.

The program is much more consistent then it was back in 2000. As of this year Fred has strung together 3 consecutive NCAA appearances and the futures appears bright as 5 of our Top 8 players are either frosh or soph. We don't have the top end talent of Fizer or Tinsley but the classes are much more balanced and the talent stream is greatly improved. We will consistently challenge for the Sweet 16 and the top 2-3 in the Big 12 every year under Freddy. With Larry E. the 1998-99 team finished 9th and the 2001-2002 team finished 11th.

Well, you might want to actually make a Sweet 16 first, and a much better summation of your program is it is more consistent making the tournament than it has been, but it certainly isn't as strong as ever. Not close. You were an Elite 8 team and a 2 seed, so your current teams aren't even close.

We were a bad call and last second three away from being in the sweet sixteen last year.
