Didn't watch but did Vaughn really praise Rice's "up tempo, NBA style offense"???

Looked up the numbers. Iowa State is #4 in scoring this year. UNLV is #186!! Last year they were #69 with their #1 draft pick. We were 4th.

Crazy.

That was a head scratcher. But the more I think about it I don't think Vaughn himself has any idea what kind of offense they ran. If you listened to some of Vaughn's previous interviews it was almost like he was saying the same thing about every school. And somehow just convinced himself that UNLV has an NBA style offense, when in reality it's more like WNBA or high school ball.

Listen, I know a lot of you are chapped about this decision, but come on, the kid is about one thing, himself. That characteristic alone would make him not fit into this puzzle that Fred has put together at ISU. If you don't smell the reek of shady backdoor deals in this one, you're missing something. Move on, ISU will be better without him.

It is time for CF to move back on to it's original topics of discussion. Fan participation at games, NCAA tournament seedings, who deserves to be in the starting lineups, AP ratings of teams we've already played against, clone cones.

Mods it is time. Kill this thread. Kill it with fire.

You forgot the biggest two topics: SEZ and the uniforms

And the only thing that matters out of all those numbers is that UNLV still produced the #1 overall pick in the draft despite those stats. UNLV is a basketball power historically and he will do just fine there in getting exposure while playing for a perennial NCAA tourney team.

Not that it matters now but I believe ISU has about the same # of players drafted as UNLV over the past 20 years.

Two thoughts on those lines:
1. Did Cyclone Alley show up enough on Twitter, or did they mail it in early?
2. Should we e-mail JP to ask what went down here?

I have been sending e-mails to JP nonstop for the past year during the recruitment of Vaughn. I was hoping to quote him as a source, but was unable to get any response.

What I take from this is Vaughn is not very bright. All of his reasons for choosing UNLV were basically recycled quotes that he used when talking Hoiberg and ISU. That's just weird. We're biased, but it seemed pretty obvious Hoiberg has a better system for getting buckets.

UNLV's recruiting class is good, but they've underachieved for a couple years now despite being hyped as "one of the most talented teams in the country." I don't see much changing in that regard.

He clearly liked the attention. That's ok. He just has a little Shawn Taggart in him it seems. He thinks it's a foregone conclusion that he will be one-and-done. He either isn't very intelligent, or he's naive and constantly being fed BS. It's most likely a little of both.

That said, I would have loved to see him commit to ISU. He's a hell of a talent and nobody has meshed egos and played team basketball like Hoiberg and ISU.

I'd rather have a 6'9 or 6'10 shot blocker and rebounder. Maybe there's one out there in the same situation as Kane and Jake Anderson. Wishful thinking.
