What bugs me most about how this last week or so played out:

Everyone: RV to UNLV!!!
RV: Trust me, no one knows where I'm going.

A week later.. UNLV it is.

Oh, you're right, no one knew where you were going...

Good point. Just tells you even more about the kid. All he wants is for people to watch him tonight. So he will lie to them just to get them all to tune in.

Talk about ego. The more I know about RV, the more this doesn't surprise me at all.

With the transfer trend in college basketball, RV holding out until late and going elsewhere will not hurt us like it could have a few years ago. We don't know the names yet but in two months there will be some very talented athletes looking to transfer.

I've thought all along that we would be fine without Rashad but that doesn't change the fact that this ******* sucks. Oh well if he really thinks playing for Rice instead of Fred is a good career move, there must be something wrong with him.

For two years RV has been publicly stating that he will choose a school where "I feel like I best fit in" and "play for a coach who can best develop my game" and "who he has the best relationship with". Obviously the second and third doesn't apply to UNLV as he has said CFH has the best relationship, but I digress. He's going to tell the tv that he wanted to play on a team with other top recruits guarantee it. And if that's the case then he should have told the staff this a year ago.

Yeah that bothers me too. It's like he wanted the TV time to announce it rather than it getting out on Twitter. Sounds like a me me me guy. Ps I'm on my phone so I cant change my avatar but I'm going to change it as soon as I get to a computer

The most positive thing to come out of this though is how Matt Abdelmassih and a few media outlets stole Vaughan's thunder 90 minutes before he's set to announce. WOMP WOMP.

I have to see I am loving our reaction on this thread.

I think we deserve the right to be mad about the whole thing. And I think it is OK to say that we are mad and disappointed. But we aren't being really terrible about it. We are mostly framing it in the loyalty we have to Iowa State and the coaching staff.

So well done. This is a nice, appropriate meltdown!

I do reserve the right to be a little PO'd that he jumped for a school that was in on him for 5 months after we were for years. Especially when everything he said during his recruitment (coach relationship, chance at title) were major factors don't exist at UNLV. It's all shady as bleep.

You know when someone asks you a question and you just kind of say something so you aren't just standing there like an idiot? This must be what he'd been doing throughout the recruiting process to all the "What are you looking for in a school?"

Vaughn would have been a good addition to next year's team, but honestly, I soured on RV awhile ago (when the Kaffey stuff was coming out). I don't think ISU should ever cater to egos or special demands. Let's quietly keep on doing what we're doing and build something that will last for more than a year. An experienced ISU team will always be competitive, so let's keep finding the diamonds in the rough that are glad to have a shot and/or a second chance at ISU. I was really starting to feel that RV was going to be disruptive to what Fred has been building. He would have been a different animal than the transfers we've been getting. The talent influx would have been nice, but there's no way he would have been a bigger contributor than what Kane has been this year. Personally I'd rather have Kane's experience. Only problem is that I'm not sure who we're going to find for next year now and replacing Ejim and Kane isn't going to be easy.

Yep, it is silly to expect Iowa State fans not to be upset about it. I haven't read anything since it became official that is terribly over the top.

No one is wishing Vaughn any harm, we just think he made a huge mistake.

Look at it this way. A 17/18 year-old kid chose UNLV over KU, UK, UNC AND Iowa State. Go figure. Must have been the bright lights.

Last thing I will say is I will be very interested (as I'm sure others will be) as to where Pete Kaffey is "coaching" next year.

We will have to watch. Maybe in the end this will be a good thing for ISU and the other schools.

I'm guessing if you had an 800 page thread dedicated to you and random grown men using your picture for their avatars you might have a little bit of an ego too.
