Re: Rashad Vaughn

This is not a ISU needs a big man thread. If someone wants to create a new thread, or bump the other 15 ISU needs a big man threads, we could continue the conversation in that thread.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Yes, it is unfortunate that after nearly 10,000 posts this thread got off topic for the very first time.

It's not the off topic as much, but more so when a visiting fan comes to this thread, the off topic seems to last like 10 pages long. But whatever, carry on.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Well, if you are a Kansas fan one assumes you watched the game last year where his kids were shown crying during the overtime.

I am confused as to why you are even posting in this thread. You come in and say some snide comments about Iowa State, try and act superior in your basketball knowledge, and are just generally trying to be a pain in the ***.

I appreciate the effort, but why bother? Doesn't Kansas have a board you can go discuss Vaughn and how he's not good enough for Kansas? (That is until he signs with Kansas and then he'll be the best thing ever!!)

I barely remember where I park my car at work every morning. Do you really think I would remember who some random people were shown at the end of a basketball game a YEAR ago? Get serious. I lived in Colorado from ages 22-25; my short term memory is sketchy at best.

Why do I post here? I love to discuss basketball and it is fun to talk it with folks that have a different viewpoint. It's boring talking to people that all have the same basic opinion. Plus it's fun to read about other teams. It adds to the enjoyment of watching KU games against them if I know a little more about the teams and their players and what their fans think about them.

I am not trying to be a pain in the ***** although I do realize that I can be overly combative and annoying at times. I have a hard time backing down from an argument. One of my many character "quirks". I just think it's important to see your own team from a different light sometimes. I like hearing what you guys think about KU. We can get tunnel vision watching from our own perspective; it's interesting to me to see it from another angle.

....plus KU's board(s) are slow and boring. I view other team's boards and CF is far and away superior in volume and content of discussion. Even our bitchy/whinny threads are amusing.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Twocoach is not wrong that ISU could benefit from landing a big man that is taller than 6'7", but landing a post player and still benefiting from landing RV are NOT mutually exclusive.

It's not one or the other. As far as I can tell Fred wants to land both.

I would assume the same. His guards seem solid. Having a guy that can light it up and who can create on his own, drive to the rim and get the opponent's bigs in foul trouble is a huge piece of the puzzle. Vaughn seems to be that. If he stays on campus for more than a year he can be a guy that big recruits want to play with. Maybe he would be the catalyst that gets guys to consider ISU more.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

IMO it doesn't matter which school RV goes to if his goal is the NBA, which it is. His first year at any college he will likely be a Top 20 draft pick to start the year, he's that good.

The fact that we are in year 4 of CFH and are in on two high profile recruits says something in and of itself. Even if we don't land Vaughn I really believe this program is at a point of being able to consistently attract Top 50-100 recruits for every recruit. it is only a matter of time before CFH puts together a true Final Four team, IMO.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Nothing twocoach has said so far is that far from the truth. We need some sort of size or we'll still have the same issues we have with rebounding and getting eaten up in the paint. If we can get Vaughn and a big from a Juco or transfer then I'll be happy.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Stud big men are harder to recruit than defensive linemen in football. Fred tries to get the best talent available and then mold our style of play to match our talent. Vaughn would have a much bigger impact on our team than any big man we are likely to get straight out of high school.

McKay is exactly the kind of "size" we need.

I don't understand how Rashad can watch Dave Rice attempt to coach and want to play for him. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Don't be lazy. WHY does ISU rely on their perimeter players needing to have good games every game?
We dont. Ejim, Niang and hogue have led us plenty of nights to victory.
This is the same worn out analysis. We hit. hit a really bad slump and lost 3 games and now we have all the problems. We shot horrible vs you and still almost one. But WAS the worst shooting I have ever seen in the Hoiberg era. You guys are young.and sloppy still and will hit your own mess. Can't shine that turd either.
