Re: Rashad Vaughn

Put me in the category of I think he signs with us. Just got a feeling. Close to home which counts for something. Slight Royce factor. On him early. But Fred's Minnesota connection is larger than some give credit. Style of play is one thing but when you are the man, style of play is everything.

Oops - didn't mean to report that

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I'm assuming this is in the form of a question? This can be answered in two easy words: FRED HOIBERG. We have a legit shot at Vaughn, otherwise Fred himself wouldn't be spending so much time on him and knows that Vaughn can be a game changer in a one and done season. Plus, he seems to exceed expectations just in the short time he's been here. Have some faith, I think we'll be satisfied by next spring with the recruits we've landed. Custer is already a good get.

Bingo, They guy was one of the best shooters in the NBA during his career and he's obviously had extremely positive results with a large majority of the players he's had in his short tenure. If you're a shooting guard trying to hone your skills, why wouldn't you want to play for the mayor?

Re: Rashad Vaughn

nallen is really worked up about this rumor. Chill, dude. This is a message board. Rumors happen.

I love how people still question whether we are in his top 5. The kid said it himself. What other proof do you need?

I think it comes down to ISU, UNC, and UK.

Man, I thought a month ago we were out of this completely. There's a lot of Iowa State smoke coming from him right now and the fact that Hoiberg was at every game of his (I think?) sure can't hurt us. I also have a good feeling about him, but I'm still holding off so if we get kicked in the pants again it won't hurt so much.

I agree with this as well. in all reality ISU basketball got some pretty good love last year from the media considering what we have gotten in the past. The program has a LOT of positives going for it right now and the majority of that is the direct result of what Fred is doing. The home court win streak, high potent offense, even the media with how we got screwed on those calls are showing that we can compete with blue bloods on the court. Throw in Freds connections with the NBA and with NBA teams already thinking highly enough of him to think he is one of the best prepared coaches in college basketball to make the jump to the NBA after only a few years of coaching has to say something. All this success has been with some good quality players (no offense inteded as we have some great talent) that Fred has developed into great players that can compete with just about anyone. Throw in what we are putting on the court next year with some blue blood talent like Vaughn and its scary to think of how dangerous this team could be. Fred knows how to get the best out of players and knows how develop players into NBA talent. Gotta figure Vaughn knows this and if he is looking to do what is best for his overall career. Don't sell ISU short, theres a lot of great things going on in Ames and people are starting to take notice... recruits included.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

With RV signing late, he will probably be bumping some recruit at the school he chooses. Yet he does seem to enjoy the recruiting process and more power to him.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Interview with Rashad... couple of quotes on the Gophers, who he is unofficially visiting today, that I found interesting.

He says, 'We need you to turn this around,' " Vaughn said of Pitino. "I think they have a shot just because my family is here. I'm going to be gone this year, so I think (my parents) would love for me to play here. I've just got a good relationship with coach Pitino and (assistant) coach Kimani (Young). ... So they have a chance."

Vaughn understands there's a lot of pressure for him to stay home. Moving away "makes it easier to deal with," he said.
But his plan is to get to the NBA as fast as he can. "My dream has always been to go to the league," Vaughn said. "The quicker I can do it is how I want to do it. Going one-and-done, that's really what I want to do. But it's really the time you put into it."
