Re: Rashad Vaughn

vaughn loves ISU and thats a fact. it may not lead to him commiting, but we have alot going for us. amazing crowds, hilton magic, a run and gun offense and a top notch coaching staff. we are in the race just as much as anyone at this point. the kid mentions ISU in tweets quite often!

I don't know Vaughn at all, but I'd like our chances much more if we played on ESPN as much as UNC and Kansas.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I don't know why all the talk is about North Carolina. Personally, I think Kansas is more likely for him than NC

I'd be shocked if he picked Kansas. He is a North Carolina fan, so that is likely where he ends up.

It is still good that we are right there in the mix with him though. He's been to games at Minnesota, North Carolina, and Iowa State. That's pretty good company.

I don't disagree with this at all. It's just funny how many homers are on here thinking that ISU/UNC is a no-brainer in ISU's favor.

No one really thinks that. Some just feel that way regarding Vaughn for various reasons such as relationship with coach, close to home and ideal playing style. I don't think it's crazy to think that.

yeah i hear ya on that! but with fred at the helm, things are going to change!! vaughn is an important get, because it could/would start a trend i think. top notch players are going to take notice and realize what we have going on in ames and want to be a prt of it

Vaughn wouldn't even be here until 2014 so there's no way to tell how wide open the B12 will be.

BAH...getting ahead of myself again. In my mind we already won the conference next year...

Not a no-brainer. But you honestly think that 2 years ago we even had a shot of this kid knowing where the h.e double hockey sticks ISU was?

I'll have my glass half-full please. Things are gonna be fine, and we WILL be signing kids like Vaughn in the near future if not him exactly. It's already started.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

My gut feeling is that Rashad will not go here. His mindset is one and done and most one and done's mind sets are the same:
Must go to Kentucky
Must go to Duke
Must go to North Carolina

right now I think Minnesota fans are going to have that same feeling of betrayal from Vaughn that we got from Barnes.

I'd put us at 5 right now but no higher.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

North carolina playrrs don't make the NBA because of coaching. Roy is slowly becoming Scott Drew. Able to recruit but his players are not getting better the longer they stay. As a matter of fact Barnes went from a top 3 pick after hogh school to dropping down the boards. Same with a lot of there players. Kentucky is the school that u go to if you want to improve and get drafted high.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

1. Iowa State
2-5 who cares

See how many tweets he sent out when watching our game? See how many he sent when watching UNC get destroyed? Close to home, he has visited us more than any other team besides MN. Ya probably because of distance. But he would not waste his time visiting numerous times if he wasn't seriously considering us. I'd put us ahead of MN, maybe only behind UNC at this point.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

We are in pretty deep with this kid, likley A LOT deeper than we were with Barnes, and he was literally in our own back yard, grew up a Cyclone fan, mom worked for the university, best friend's dad was the coach etc etc. I am still wondering how Chewie ****ed that up, because if it happens again, no way he is getting out of Ames with Fred at the helm.

It would have been nice to have HB here, but he really didn't do anything special at UNC. Then we would be stuck with McDoormat and our program would be horrible. Now we have FH and things are looking up, come sunday if we don't make the tourney we will go into meltdown mode, when McD was here were hoping to be .500 so we could get a shot at the NIT.

i much prefer the mindset today, even though HB didn't come here - it might have been the best decision ever!

From what I've read, they do.
