Was supposed to have a date tonight, got an awful cold, coughing and generating excessive loads of snot. She just texted me and said she can't make it. I don't have to break the date. Score

No students enrolled yet for fall course.
No contact yet from daytime hours PT job I'm hoping to land.

I think there are more secure ways to go about this than I did.

Erik - a question, George Will just wrote a column in the WaPo about George Washington's place in history, citing a new book by Rick Atkinson titled "The British Are Coming: The War for America, Lexington to Princeton, 1775-1777". I found what Will was quoting from the book fascinating. Wonder if you have/had heard about/read it.

Here's a link to the column, if you're interested:

Haven't heard of this one, but I don't really have anybody contacting me about what's coming out now. Adjunct life is pretty much cut off from anything going on in the field, or even the school one adjuncts at.

Will didn't spend much time talking about this book. He's generally pretty much right, but wow, for a wordy guy, he didn't say much of anything. He really just babbled his way through some words.

Hit 90 at 4:00. Damn, weather be crazy here this year although there is the one constant, the wind. Gusting to 23 mph this afternoon and blowing around cottonwood (aka cottonWEED) tree seeds. Deck, which I washed yesterday in advance of entertaining, is covered with a yellow powder of pollen. Ack!

Anyway, biked, cause hot and windy! Sweated rosé but DND. Phone overheated and shut down though.

So I have this thing that when I store tp, I put it high in the linen closet. But then when I need it I always look low. I just realized I have 14 rolls of TP on the 4th shelf of my linen closet. And I’ve thought I was out.

You should probably celebrate by going out for burritos.

Little man is going to be a hella toddler. When he wants more food he grunts LOUDLY and turns his face red. Or when he wants anything. He does everything passionately. And is so kind and affectionate. There's a new girl at daycare this week and the teacher said yesterday how little man was so nice and welcoming with her, sharing toys and all that. He's such a social butterfly and it's crazy that we can see that this early. Anyway, I'm like we're in trouble cause DH and I aren't like that. Ok, maybe I'm kinda social and DH........the video I saw of him as a baby and the immediate freakouts when he didn't get something he wanted.....................

pray for me

also, cause I know you want more anecdotes about my child, he loves going outside and was apparently very mad yesterday that daycare took the other babies outside but not him cause he was just waking up as they went out. Teacher said he's going to be a forest manager, ha. So many times when he's upset, I'll walk outside with him and sit on the front stoop just looking at everything and talking to him. I love those little moments.

Anyway, my actual story, they said yesterday he went up to their little fridge, laid down and was swiping his hand underneath like he was trying to reach something. Pulled back in failure and then leaned against the fridge with a big sigh lolololol. Maybe that's only funny to me but teacher and I thought it was hilarious. Such a dramatic personality. No idea where it comes from, certainly not me.

So @cowgirl836 isn't alone:

Per request, filled up a cup of chocolate milk for Z. She walked over to check for ants while I filled it.
Put it on the stove, told her confidently that I put it on the fridge for her.
She looked at me. I said, "Hey, I put it right here on the fridge."
She kept up the look. I realized I failed. "Hey, Z, I put it right here on the stove for you."

She nodded and went back about her business.
