Which is your favorite? In FD, the only Mexican place we go to is Hacienda Vieja (in the mall, next to where Penney's used to be). It's fantastic. If you go, have Raoul make you one of his "Perfect Margaritas". The vixen loves 'em.

It's actually Taco King up in Albert Lea. Little family ran joint in the strip mall across from Walmart. Good food and nice people. They also have a store downtown but it's only open during businessman hours.

Sun came out so went walkabout.

Saw no tanagers so still super envy of KC. :(

Found a Grosbeak nest so might be able to get pics later. :)

Pretty runner gal with Lauren Bacall's voice stopped to talk to me. I think I am less "threatening" a figure with binoculars and big camera lens.

Good timing - I put up a bird feeder yesterday. Already had a cardinal and some finches stop in. I've seen bluebirds around and hoping they'll come in. Orioles too, didn't realize they came this far north.
Little man loves watching outside so I thought a bird feeder would be a good thing for him to watch. We watched ours all the time growing up. Didn't realize til DH was confirming to me what a robin looked like that not everyone grew up watching birds!

Don't think I've ever seen an indigo bunting but they were promoted on the bird seed I got so I'm hopeful. What about marlins? I remember those being a big deal to my mom and grandma who lived on the river.

Wherever I go, there I am.

We have a transparent feeder that suction cups to the door going out onto the deck. Great view of the birds. My youngest daughter has several bird identification books and loves to sit in the kitchen and watch.

When we moved out here to our acreage, a friend gave us a small book called "Birds of Iowa: Field Guide". It has been invaluable for us, because neither one of us really knew many of the species. We knew the obvious ones (robin, cardinal, male gold finch, blue jay), but after that, it was little brown bird, little grey bird, big black bird, woodpecker...anything that pecked at the trees was a woodpecker! :)

Will try again tomorrow but bike riding today was "unsatisfactory". Old lady tried to run me over less than a mile into my ride (4-way stop, she turns left with her head glued right and almost nails me in the crosswalk), cray cray angry white guy screaming at me for biking on the pedestrian path (it was a shared path* so I called him a ******* idiot and kept going), the underpass at Lake Street is flooded and underwater**, bike computer crapped out and it was windy and cloudy**.

* There were only about 50 new detour signs all over the place saying this is a detour and shared path for the next two years.

** Cause Minnesota spring/summer rain and wind season.

Well at least you survived. (Hey I'm trying to find a silver lining here.)
