So....I am supposed to believe Jim Beam didn't have a drink or celebrate after the lifting of prohibition until he made his own brew?????? So tired of marketing people lying to me.

I just made the mistake of catching up on the "Is Purdy hurt?" thread. I don't think he is but my head does after reading that bunch of bickering. However tolfbfan did post a really funny video about what coaches really want to say.

Is it the best food in the world? No. But, you can walk in with your SO and $20 and leave full. For college students, thats huge.
Back in the 70's when it was in the original little cinder block building there would be a line waiting to get in.

I wasn't in Ames when it was there, but I remember NW Steakhouse being there. I first went to HP when it was in that wooden building on SE 16th that seemed to have a hundred little rooms.

That was the old Tony's Little Italy(?) location before they took over the Bonanza building

I had the choice of a red one. My neighbor is the owner of a few red dealerships but I still prefer the green stuff.

My grandpa was all Deere. Doesn't hurt that my great great uncle invented the first gasoline powered tractor to go both forward and back. Unfortunately he sold it and that is why there is no WxMan family stadium in Ames.

@Angie I have a Friday OT idea if you're up for it!

When are some instances you felt like you were in your own version of the Truman Show? For example, a few weeks ago, I went to my girlfriend's family reunion in northern Wisconsin for the first time and they introduced me to a specific brand of chip dip that I'd never heard of but apparently has been a staple of their gatherings for years. Since then, I've been getting ads on Facebook and other websites for this brand of dip. I'm sure I never Googled it at any time so it's not just Google keeping track of my cookies. Now, I recently noticed a new billboard on my daily commute to Ames advertising this brand of chip dip. It's not like it's a new product that the company is trying to promote with a heavy marketing campaign because like I said her family has been eating it for years. Now that's for sure not just because Google or someone else is probably listening to my conversations... right?

P.S. Fun fact: there's actually a name for this phenomenon: the Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon.

There is no doubt in my mind that your Android phone is listening to you and basing search results on your recent conversations. There are just too many coincidences to consider it random. Apple as well.

Something about that came out recently how one of the companies pays people to listen to you over certain devices.
