My dog is named Dante after Dante Hall. He has struggled lately, but this kinda bums me out. He was a big fan favorite.

As a Broncos fan, I'll admit a bias, but I always thought he was overrated. Still, he was a thorn in the Broncos' side enough times that I'm glad to see him head out of the AFC West. I guess I just undercut my own "overrated" argument, didn't I?

That's one of those deals you look at, and you really can't point out who got the better of that one...Looks pretty good for St. Louis - you get an explosive return guy whos #'s have been down, but think about him playing at least 8 games on turf. And its hard to predict whether KC will find gold with the Ram's 5th round pick or if it will be a player who won't pan out at all. But Kansas City needs to start looking younger and get more outta the draft.

BTW-Rumors are Larry Johnson may be on the trading block...Maybe KC sees themselves getting something great at RB in the draft?

I really hope the chiefs don't trade Larry...I know he has a large contract coming up but he is the only thing the O has

I would be completely shocked and just PO'd as a Chiefs fan if LJ got traded. He's no worse than a top 3 back in the league and has been very durable. Trent Green is on the trade block, that is no secret.

I was a little surprised to see Hall go but I know that KC needs to cut some payroll and Dante has had a couple of down years so they must figure they can grab a servicable return guy in the draft that will be cheaper and there are a few speedy guys on the roster too.

When he was on, he was on. The Chiefs had very good players on special teams back then and that plays a big part. Last year, The Human Joystick was pressing and coming up with terrible returns. They always tried to get him in the offense but ran terrible plays for him. St. Louis will do well wth him and hopefully the Chiefs can get a OL guy or a productive player.

I'll never forget how pumped up I was when he ran one back at a critical time vs Indy a few years ago. That place erupted and DH was flashing the X. Goosebumps

It's been a big topic on KC sports talk lately - trade LJ or not. I'd be in favor of it if you could get a decent draft number in return, but in today's NFL, running backs seem to be viewed as expendible. As good as Larry is, are you really going to get more than a 2nd or 3rd round pick for him? Certainly no GM (outside the Arizona maybe) would give up too much for a running back. Larry also lead the league in carries last year! It made me chuckle when the Chiefs celebrated it as some sort of valued record - ask the prevoius carries record holder how that worked out. To me, it's only a matter of time before LJ starts to break down, plus he's not signed to a long term deal, so anyone who oks the trade has to pray that they can re-sign him after next year.

Oh yeah, sorry to see Dante go, he was good in the community and a fan favorite. After his breakout return year, KC didn't sign some of the special teams guys that did a lot to spring him on all his returns. Plus they forced him into a full time reciever role because they had no one else. He didn't seem to have quite the same pop after that.

im a ram fan, i agree that dante has dumped off, but put him with the greatest show on turf and they are going to be a step closer to being atleast an NFL contender again.. I hope they look at Teddy Gin too, id rather have Ted Gin than Dante Hall but Teddy Gin will go pretty fast

Dante Hall's breakout season was mainly due to the NFL allowing blocks in the back on his returns. He used to have some nice moves but once that crap wasn't allowed as much his production dropped.

Hear hear! I never saw one of his TD returns against the Broncos that didn't involve a blatant block in the back. Glad to see that someone else noticed this, too!

Ha ha! :laugh8kb: Yeah, I never claimed I wasn't a Broncos homer! Hall burned the Broncos more than once, so of course I scrutinized every one of his returns to see how many blocks in the back and clips he benefitted from. Denver/Kansas City is a fierce rivalry, but most Broncos fans have a lot of respect for the Chiefs. They're a worthy adversary. The Raiders, on the other hand... Well, this is a "family message board," so I'll reserve comment. :frown3qg:

I think the KC is hoping for Webb to help out the return game he did a good job last year while hall was out or they are looking at getting someone in the draft hopefully Wright from UNLV is still there in the 2nd round.

About the 1:20 mark is probably the most improbable return I have ever seen. You see him cut back and get near the goal line and you think he's screwed then all the sudden he breaks loose down the other sideline for the return.

I'm a Rams fan. I could go either way with the trade. Personally, I think that Hall is washed up, but a 5th round pick is not much...they don't even make the team sometimes. So, I guess it's worth it just in case Hall has a comeback.
