What I'm hearing...

Iowa State's "SEC Challenge" game has not yet been scheduled for next year. The two leagues will make this decision after the Final Four, so it could come sometime next week. Obviously, they want to match up similar profile teams with one another.

Just spit-balling here, but I'd say that there is a decent chance that Iowa State could get one of the SEC's elite programs in next year's challenge. Right now, I project Iowa State to be a preseason top 25 team. Should the right pieces get added over the next few months, the Cyclones could be in the top 15. Kentucky or Florida could be in the mix?

Maybe not though. Who knows?

I do know however that the chances of Iowa State playing someone like an Auburn again appear to be slim at this pout.

I want Kentucky. Won't they have a fresh bunch of one and dones without much experience together at that time of the year?

Will Iowa State have a road game for sure next year against the SEC team since we had Auburn at home this year?

I'd take Kentucky in a heartbeat. They'll probably be overrated and still trying to figure things out that early in the season. And it's a game that will only look better as the season goes on.

I would be happy with Kentucky at home, but I would rather not go to play at Rupp. Young team or not, that would be a very tall task.

Regardless this will be a very tough game on the road against a top half SEC team, IMO.

I would think that KU will get either Kentucky or Florida, and Texas might get the 2nd best team. With them having the McDonalds all american and getting everyone back, they will likely be ranked pretty high. Plus they are Texas and the media fawns over them whenever they can.

KU should play Missouri. They won't, but they should. Too much common sense involved in that theory though. No way it happens.
