My uncle from Brandon, SD was down this weekend and was telling me about this kid. Have any of you heard anything about him? My uncle thought ISU was very interested, but I haven't found anything in the limited search I've done. He said he's got a heck of an arm - both strong and accurate. Before the half of one game they were on their own 45 or so and hit the reciever in stride over his shoulder 2 yards from the back of the endzone (close to 70 yds). He'll be a senior this year, so maybe we'll hear more about him soon.

Anyone know about him?

Seems pretty solid. He doesn't have a profile on Rivals, yet is being considered for the Army game? Interesting....

I ate at the Taco John's in Brandon once...

On a more serious note, if he really hit a kid in-stride in the back of the end zone, from 70 yards out, then WOW. I don't care if he is playing in South Dakota, that's something.

That's kind of what I thought, too. I'm curious why nobody's heard of him...just because he IS from South Dakota?...would seem like a silly reason. But, my uncle is not one to lie, nor is he a crazy person, so we'll see if he becomes more popular this season I guess.

That is a good point, but he is from around here and is an ISU alum, so HE can't be crazy. Other South Dakotian...South Dako...South Dakotans I cannot speak for.

There might be something to this. Isn't it true that Greenway wasn't really recruited D1 until some Iowa football alum saw him and called up the Iowa coaching staff?

Well, I'm kinda hoping that our coaching staff notices this thread--and nobody else did. Anybody forward this to whoever the new RC is now? Lost track...

Wow. I really hope that our RC isn't relying on cyclonefanatic.com threads to do his research for him. If that is the case, then my friends, we are in trouble.

In the late 70's Yankton was the place to be. Drinking beer at the Ice House... which was basically a beer warehouse and the only place to stand or sit was outside.

A great college town at that time with Yankton College still alive. At the time it only had 400 students, but was ranked in Playboy's Top 50 party schools of all sizes...

Wish I could remember more... but it's all kind of a blur...

Well, his team beat O'Gorman (who had 4 straight undefeated reg seasons) in the first game of the year. He was one of the best (if not the best) QBs in the state.

Ditto the comment that hopefully someone in the know is evaluating Austin Sumner. Relatives from SD (Sioux Falls) think this fella is the best high school player from SD since Chad Greenway.

Who said anything about "relying"? For unknown players, as Sumner appears to be, coaching staffs appreciate tips from alums all the time. Especially when one turns out to be a gem.

I've sensed a some friction between you and "thatguy" today. Do we all need to hug it out? (not gay) (not that there's anything wrong with that)

If we do end up getting Austin Sumner and he ends up being awesome, I want you all to know who brought this up here (me). We can call it the Bartastic Bump (like the Colbert Bump, but with me instead of Stephen Colbert and ISU players instead of world leaders). Deal?

Why the ? Greenway was a heck of a player. I would love to get guys like him here. The only thing wrong with Greenway is/was he was a hawk. (which I know is a big problem)

No, Greenway was a good player, I did the  to your relatives saying that Sumner is the best player in SD since Greenway.
