I think their leadership also really screwed them over, they never once were able to present a media deal that wasn’t all streaming and were arrogant enough to think their deal was going to be some massive thing.

The stories that came out about just how badly that conference was run were pretty staggering. Obv if the LA schools are willing to stay the deal probably gets down but I don’t blame them for leaving with how dysfunctional things were.

Do feel bad that OSU and WSU were left adrift

You’re assuming the LA schools were negotiating in good faith. The Big10 deal didn’t happen overnight. So how much were they involved with the contracts going badly?

And furthermore, Fox would have had to know about the discussions with the LA schools. So were they acting in good faith also?

Why would Fox need to act in good faith? They aren’t mandated to bid on a product. Yeah obv if the LA schools decide to stay some type of deal is being done but clearly it wasn’t going to be a good deal as was reported non stop.

The shift on here was kinda wild, everyone went from talking about how bad the PAC was, how they had horrible attendance, ratings, and that no one on the west coast cared but then lost it when the conference that everyone said was trash compared to the others collapsed.

I get the feeling but man that conference had some of the worst leadership in sports history

Why not? Genuinely curious.
Because the top teams don’t want to go 3-9 which in a super league of 20-24 teams that’s going to happen to a lot of teams. There is also the fact that ratings would crater and interest would become non existent to many. There is also the difficulty of scheduling other sports, and how difficult it would even be to arrange in the first place.

Also there is no reason why the top teams want to give up their top dog status. It would become like the premier league where there are only around 6 teams that matter and everyone else is an after thought.

Really this is talked about on here more than anywhere else just based on everyone’s experience of expansion in the big12. Sure that can provide some really good insight but it also makes people more jaded then other fans (with good reason though)
