Help: Posting a GIF that animates

How do you post a GIF that animates in a thread?

Every time I post a GIF it shows up as a thumbnail that you have to click to enlarge and animate.

Guess I'll have to try this from my computer later, doesn't want load from my iPad.

i think my problem in the past was uploading a file from my computer instead of linking to it through a URL.
