I disagree. He looks like the prototypical 4 year college guy to me. I couldn't be happier about it. There's no downside of me being wrong.
I have to agree with this. I think we have him for atleast 3 years minimum which sounds good to me.

Wrong. He got the ball in the post three times. He passed out on one of them. His "awkward" shots were textbook dropstep hooks. Percy played well and Fred mentioned the same thing in the postgame, but I'm sure you know better.

What is it that you expect Percy to do? When a post player gets the ball in the post, he should look to score. If his move doesn't work, he should look opposite or kick it out. I only saw one shot by Percy that looked forced. He's a post player off the bench. He's not going to average 10 and 6.

I must've looked away when he passed. My bad.

I would love to see Percy have a more complete game. You know the type you need out of a bench player. The ones that make effort plays, rebound, don't take bad shots, etc. That's what we need out of him and I'm all on board for it.

It's just Augustana. Reggie freaking George scored 15 pts in an exhibition game once.

Ha. I'm not basing it on his performance today. He showed us 1% of his potential. Can't wait to see the kid improve.

Augustana is small time compared to Michigan and big 12 game play. We need to step up big time and work on our defense. I think the augies killed us with their screens. If we can't get better at defending while we are getting screened, it will be a tough season.

Percy Gibson scored 17 points against Southern in the first game last year. (another example)

You just gotta let Percy be Percy. We all want him to defend and rebound well, but you can't force a guy to play as a different style of player just cause that's what you want off the bench.

I agree with that. I think it's safe to say that right now we're not very good. But just like every other Hoiberg coached team we will get much better as the season moves along. Getting Ejim back will be huge.

Hogue and Kane looked like bulls in a china shop at times. It will be huge for us if Kane keeps getting to the line and making them like that.

I didn't think effort was a problem at all. He had three rebounds and made a nice block. He made some nice post moves and had one bad shot. I would take that every time. We don't need him to be what you think he should be. We need him to be the best version of what he is. That means scoring in the post when there is an opportunity and taking up space while our starters get a rest.

Why do you expect him to have Hogue's style when we know he doesn't? That doesn't make sense to me.

Did you think Hoiberg was wrong in complimenting Percy's game tonight?

Hopefully Percy will rise to the occasion and take advantage of Ejim's injury. His confidence may grow and hopefully Doc Sadler will help him make some strides this season.

Matty Ice and Man Man are going to be our best backcourt since Stinson and Blaylock, and in three years, they are going to be special maybe better.

Kane is going to be newcomer of the year in the big 12. Would that make it back to back to back with Royce, Cylburn, and him if it happened? (calling Nader next year?)

One complaint, and one complaint only...wish we would have more sets to get Thomas an open 3. All 3 of his threes were either in transition or due to slow defensive rotation. Would love to see Hoiberg try and get him more looks. Not complaining, just an observation. Great to have basketball back!

Or maybe we are not showing our entire hand in a exhibition, and we actually have sets to get him looks, just don't want to show them against sisters of the poor.

One thing I don't get on CF is the antagonist approach that a small majority of people have against Iowa State's athletes. First and foremost with Percy Gibson and Naz Long. Why is there hate directed at them? Naz easily played better than SDW, started, hustled the most, and ran the point when the likes of Ellerman, Edozie, and Bluford were all on the floor. Of course he looked a little ragged at times.

The way some people talk about those 2 guys, you would almost question if they actually want to see either of them even have success at ISU. That isn't being a true fan in my opinion.

Agree, and I thought Naz played good d. Maybe he can be that lock down defender????
