Going off memory, but I think here is how it goes.
  • Notre Dame plays in a bowl against team X.
  • If Notre Dame goes undefeated in the regular season in the year after the bowl game then the point below happens in year 2 after the bowl game.
  • Team X wins the national championship and has the heisman winner.
  • So ISU played ND in 2019. ND just finished 2020 undefeated on the regular season. So, ISU has a Heisman winner next year, and also wins the national title.

The trifecta (based on a sample size of 2) exists that every time Notre dame plays a bowl game in orlando, Notre Dame then goes undefeated in the regular season the next season, and then the following year the team they played in that bowl game wins a natty.

Notre Dame played FSU in the 2011 Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando. Notre Dame went undefeated in the 2012 regular season (losing to champion Alabama). FSU went undefeated in 2013, and won a natty and a heisman

In 2017, Notre Dame played LSU in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando. In 2018 they went undefeated in the regular season (losing to eventual national champion Clemson) In 2019 LSU went undefeated, won a natty and a heismen

In 2019, Notre Dame played ISU in the Camping world bowl in Orlando. In 2020, Notre Dame has (to this point) had an undefeated season. In 2021, Iowa state __________

They are done with the regular season, I think. So they’ve completed step 2.

I think it is only Camping World though.

Pollard blows my mind two days in a row. Yesterday, the Hoks beat Ohio State to open the back door for us to make the Playoffs. And now the Notre Dame trifecta. Wow!

I found it interesting that Ohio State chose not to play Illinois and the decision was not Covid related.

It was covid related but they had enough people that the Big 10 would have let them play.

OK, that makes sense then about the covid piece of it. Other programs are playing with less, look at Kansas State and Clemson. I hope it bites them in the rear.
