So here is the situation.

There is a guy that sits across from me at work. The good news is he only shows up about 1 day a week because I think he "works" at home most of the time.

When he is here, he has on his headphones and ACTUALLY sings and hums ALL DAY LONG! By the end of the day I want to tear my hair out.

Do I put up with it? Do I ask him to stop?

He is a higher level manager than myself so I don't know if I want to ruffle any feathers.

Take his cell phone and place it above his desk on top of the ceiling tiles then call it all day until he goes crazy and has to take anger management courses....worked on The Office.

Put on headphones and ignore him.

Ask him what he is listening to. Or when he starts singing, tap him on his shoulder, say I love that song and start singing it to him.

Let me know how that goes, I have the same thing (humming) here.

Also, we have cubes that open back to back to one another. I have a fifty-something behind me who passes gas like it's WW I. I swear I'm about to get one of those citrus air fresheners - the really strong ones, and bomb him next time he does it.

How many other people sit close to him? Does he have any clue that this annoys you?

If you could get away with it without being tagged, leave an anonymous printed note on his chair/desk, politely asking him to stop as it is distracting his neighbors.

Or, you could put a dead rodent in his cube.

Tough one. We have a guy hear that does that but I dont sit by him. You could ask him politely to not do it. Is he at least in tune?

I usually fire up my iPod, but today for example I am on conference calls most of the day. 1 time, not today, I actually had someone on the line hear it!

Before I worked here I found out this same guy got moved over to where he sits now because a few people complained! Lucky me....

Lay a hard left to the side of his head :biglaugh:

I would just ask him if he can keep it down a bit as it's distracting.

That would be awful. You need to buy him some GasX for Christmas!

Tell all of you co-workers to start calling him Beano.....see how long it takes him to get it.

A guy that sits across from me (other side of wall) kept throwing a bouncy stress reliever at the wall and bouncing it back at him. Finally he accidentally got it over the wall and into my water. I made sure to throw it back extra hard right into the forehead. He hasn't touched the ball since.

When someone else in your office goes to lunch or break, go over to their computer and send him an email letting him know that his annoying humming can be heard throughout the office....it will have your co-workers address and he/she will get the line share of the evil stares and anger over the situation....too funny.....someone did it to me once as a prank and i bit hook, line and sinker.....great prank!!!!

A couple of years ago a lady was very annoying so I thought I'd get back at her. I ended up switching the N and M and the E and R keys on her keyboard and the person next to her before they got to work. It was quite hilarious to say the least. That was a priceless moment (day).

Milton Waddams: I was told that I could listen to the radio at a reasonable volume from nine to eleven, I told Bill that if Sandra is going to listen to her headphones while she's filing then I should be able to listen to the radio while I'm collating so I don't see why I should have to turn down the radio because I enjoy listening at a reasonable volume from nine to eleven.
