I thought it would be fun to start a conversation on who our favorite MLB teams are and why in honor of Opening Day...

I'll start.

I'm a Braves fan for a few reasons. 1) Because of TBS. I didn't care for the Cubs and because every Braves game was televised on TBS when I was a kid, I could follow them all summer long. 2) Mom has relatives from Atlanta. The Braves were always her favorite team growing up (she lived in the south).

My first memories of cheering for the Braves come from back in 1991. Twins fans, you know what I'm talking about.

Full disclosure - the Royals are my AL team for the same reasons as above. Growing up in SW Iowa, I could watch them on TV and dad took me to KC for a game or two every summer. I'll never forget watching Ken Griffey Jr., Jay Buhner and Edgar Martinez go back-to-back-to-back in the K one night.

George Brett + Bo Jackson + Hal McRae = awesome times.

Needs a poll but...

Cardinals all the way. That's what I grew up listening to while working on the farm in SW Iowa and what dad and I would take naps to on Sunday afternoons.

Cubs fan here. Basically for the same reasons to mentioned. WGN, Harry Carrey, and several members of my family were Cubs fans when I was growing up.

Don't really have a second favorite team or a favorite AL team so when the Cubs are out of it, I pay a lot less attention to baseball.

Diamondbacks. Probly the only fan Iowa. I joined the bandwagon when i was 8 years old and they won the WS, and I stuck with it

Even though people either love them or hate them, I am a Cubs fan. Grew up watching them on WGN and going to ICubs games as well.

Sadly I have been tuning out baseball earlier and earlier in the season lately as the Cubs kill my passion at times.

Cardinals because of my grandfather. SOO glad he grew up in Southern Illinois and was a Redbirds fan. Otherwise I may be a Cubs fan and an Iowa State fan. That would have been tough over the years.

Cardinals fan here. And I would like to note that by definition, the infield fly call was technically correct.

KC Royals. Going down to KC in the summers as kid. Also, Royals country used to extend over a vast portion of this country (the Rockies, into the Dakotas, and even into Arkansas and Oklahoma). Their radio network used to extend into all those places.

I'd love to blame the Colorado Rockies and the success of the Twins and Rangers recently for that falling apart, but really only David Glass is to blame.

White Sox. I liked how their hat looked when i was a kid. Other than that, dont like baseball at all. probably cant tell you the name on the white sox roster. Plus everyone in iowa seems to love the cubs, so..go White Sox.
