This thread is going to torment me until I figure out the song that I can think of the silence and then the ending (three seconds), but I can't remember the previous 4 minutes.

So thanks for that.

I think this might be the one that was stuck in my head. Might be a different one, but this fits the description. Just a little guitar riff to finish.

Haha, thought of this thread on some recent wilderness excursions as I hopped back on the Dawes train.

Quantum Leap is on Comet and the theme song has a totally false ending.

1:25.

Lyrics 'Awkward Pause' followed by actual pause at 3:09.

Way-back-machine bump … Thought of this song today, then recalled the OTN topic … looks like it wasn’t used in the thread.

Might as well add! (he said, self-indulgently).

Minutemen (cover of Meat Puppets)

Two stops … 1:00 and 1:43

I missed this thread the first time around, but I now that I see it I want to share a funny story. This is the first song that came to my mind for a very specific reason.

When I was younger, sometime in the 90s, I detassled in the summer (like I'm sure many others did). That meant waking up very early, which I've always hated. One particular morning, I had the alarm clock set for the radio at a too-high volume. At the prescribed time, the radio came on to EXACTLY the silent spot referred to in the song above. The radio static, however, was loud enough to wake me up. For about a second, I was very confused...until "IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIIIIIIIGHT" blared right in my ear. I remember thinking, "Yes, it is. Shut up, Billy Joel!" I can't hear that song without thinking of that morning ever again.
