So here's my Def Leppard story.
My older brother is 8 years older than me, so he was a teenager in the 80s during the peek of DLs fame. He had every cassette they had released to that point I believe, notably On Through the Night, High n' Dry, Pyromania, and Hysteria.
I would routinely borrow (steal) his cassettes and 10 year old cyhiphopp rock out for hours on end to Def Leppard. One of my first "favorite" bands.
You guys have covered a lot of Pyromania and some of Hysteria, so I'll stick to High n' Dry. They weren't as well known on MTV with their videos but they still rocked really hard. Oh and Rick Allen still had two arms at this point. So he had that going for him. Which was nice.

Love it! They were actually on the CBS Saturday morning show a year ago, and I was pretty impressed.
More Stevie Nicks. I always wanted to see her in concert, but never got a chance. She's been a favorite for a long time.

"Love Will Never Do (Without You)" When this song hit #1 in 1991 (her SEVENTH from the album), Rhythm Nation became the first disc ever to produce a number one single in three consecutive years. "Miss You Much" reached the top in 1989, "Escapade" and "Black Cat" ruled in 1990, while "Love" debuted in November of 1990 and reached #1 in January 1991. Rhythm Nation remains the only album ever to accomplish that feat.

Radiohead isn't for all tastes, no question.
I wouldn't put Coldplay in the same universe, but i think your point is, examples of artists whose appeal doesn't make sense to you --- I don't think you intended it as a straight-up comparison. At least I hope not.
Radiohead was an acquired taste for me. Early-period stuff blended in with the grunge-esque years, "Creep" didn't do much for me, Unfairly, I wrote it off as coat-tailing. I didn't pay much attention until I was introduced to OK Computer --- the music had gone into other places by then.

That's one of the biggest things I appreciate about Radiohead. They have evolved and changed on every album they've released. I enjoy the journey.
My biggest influence from them was also OK Computer. It really took off for me there and I went back and absorbed the rest of their catalogue.

The graphics for this were done by a former ISU Prof - Song Zhang. He wasn't at ISU at the time, but still an interesting fact nonetheless.
Ironically enough, my first major exposure to The Doors was a greatest hits album. In my defense, I stole it from my sister, and I think I was 10.
