Just curious. I moved recently, and haven't had a tv til yesterday. But, still haven't seen one second of the Olympics...and may not even bother. Have people been watching?

I've watched quite a bit of the Olympics. In fact, watching the Olympics is the first time I've even bothered turning the television on in months.

I guess I am the kind of guy that finds interest in most competitive sports. I can't seem to get enough of the Olympics and I'm not quite sure why. I think it is because the events are so unique. The sports are mostly things that we don't see but once every 4 years and all of these athletes pour so much of themselves into these couple of weeks of competition. Personal favorites are Curling, Speed Skating and Hockey. It's just fun to watch and fun to root on the good ol' USA!

It's just about all I've been watching. Seen a little of every sport, love watching the obscure sports that I only see every four years. Sometimes it's just on in the background while studying, but it's there and I'm interested.

I really think the Olympics have lost their appeal for a number of reasons:

1) There are so many options for watching sports on TV every day of the year now.

2) Almost all Olympians are professional athletes now.

3) You don't have the Cold War "us v. them" prevailing attitude now.

That is why you will never see another 1980 US Hockey Team story emerge again from the Olympics.

I believe the appeal of the Olympics continues to grow. What other event costs $1,000 to attend the opening ceremonies before the athletes are even competing?

As options increase for watching different sports on television, the Olympics become the showcase for watching many of those events. In other words the increased exposure of these other sports feeds the appetite for the Olympics.

There simply isn't another stage that offers a venue where the best athletes in the world compete among each other.

I am sick and tired of figure skating when is that over?

have to agree...I got real mad the other night because I wanted to see the US guy get the gold, but they kept running the figure skating and I didn't want to watch through that just to catch it, and ended up missing it.

I am a little tired of the human interest stories too. How many times do we need to hear about the 1st Canadian gold and his brother? and if we have any more special reports on the boy who died and whether it was the course or human error I think I'll scream. So far, I think the coverage this year has stunk it up.

I don't really mind seeing a little of the figure skating. The problem with it is that the competition is sooo long that it eats up a **** ton of their coverage. It really sucks when NBC will mix in events that I would like to catch a little bit of like snowboard cross or bobsledding in between the skating programs. Are ratings for Keith Olbermann or Mad Money really that high that they can't totally dedicate those networks to the other sports for two weeks?

I hear you on this. The last few games I thought they had done a good job on toning that down. Now it seems the coverage is back to their old tricks of showing more stories and less sports.

I have been watching. I like the skiing and snowboarding, watched the little bit of luge they had last night; wish i could have seen the hockey games yesterday. Tuesday and wednesday there is nothing else on tv I want to watch, so i just leave the Olympics on. I don't watch the figure skating; just put the tv on mute and do some studying.

I've tried to watch a lot. However, it is frustrating when half the time I tune in they are showing figure skating or somehting I don't care about.

I would love it if they had multiple stations going all the time and would show every event possible. I would be watching a lot more if I could flip away from figure skating and watch something else.
