Both Jacobsen and Lard need to have productive games. If I were UT I’d post up early and get Cyclone bigs into foul trouble.

I see that Brent Blum is the analyst teaming with John Walters again today. He did fine in that role Wednesday night, although I assume he is primarily a play by play guy. So is Eric Heft on vacation, or what?

My first thoughts when looking ahead in the guide this morning; great, we’re after West Virginia.
Always great news ... ESPN News, usually!!

You inspired me to peek at the guide, and I see that the 5 games are continuous today, back to back to back to back, 11 am to 9 pm. Are we in hoops heaven today or what?

A lot of inconsistency from this Texas team this year. When they're on they have played with some of the best in the country. I'm hoping Texas comes out a bit slow after the big win against Kansas and we jump on them early. Really think we need to set the tempo from tip and avoid getting into a slow half court game.

So, what kind of reaction will Elijah Mitrou-Long get today from the Hilton crowd? I hope they give him a little applause when he comes in. And that he goes 0 for 8 from the field.

Naz probably has mixed emotions on this one.

I'd say THT and hopefully Talley need to have productive games.

We generally only play one big at a time and have 3. UT plays two, and has three. The foul trouble angle is if we can get Hays into foul trouble. If I were Prohm, I'd drive at UT with our small ball lineup and hope that we get the calls KU got on Tuesday night.

Agreed. But if Texas gets off to a good start, I'd really like to see our squad come from behind and win it. The ISU men are 1-4 in games decided by 5 points or less, and that needs to improve before tournament season. Jacobson manned up and made some great plays late in the game at KU, proving he is a worthy starter. More efforts like that will be needed to win close games in February.

I agree. Just think Texas has talent advantage in the front court. Jacobson and Lard struggle defending good post players. Leading to easy buckets for Texas and foul trouble for clones in second half.

They have talent, but it's not exactly the type in which you make a comment about going at ISU's bigs to get them in foul trouble. It won't be UT's frontcourt causing foul trouble, but their backcourt.

ISU has more depth in the frontcourt than UT. Jacobson's defended well against players better than Osetkowski- the biggest concern is his outside shooting, but that's not conducive to getting ISU in foul trouble. Hays is a great defender, but he isn't a developed guy on offense and is prone to Lard-like foul trouble.

Forwards foul and in general are at risk of having foul trouble in any game, but imo UT is more vulnerable to foul trouble than ISU. I'd put Jacobson on Osetkowski and make Hays muscle up on THT.

Expecting a few more minutes for Conditt today.

He hasn't played much lately, but the Longhorns go with a traditional 2 post lineup. The key will be guys like THT or Shayok being able to take advantage of Jaxson Hayes. But if Jacobson or Lard get into foul trouble- I think Conditt would be a good match-up against Hayes.
