Back from Ames and had a GREAT time!

I go to one conference game (= interesting OOC games) a year @ Hilton, and I chose a good day!

5-0 now under TJ with wins @ Creighton (2021) and vs. Oklahoma (2022), St.John's (2022), Kansas (2023) and TCU (2024) @ Hilton.

The defense is REAL and NASTY.

Had a laugh when Pav his his three right off the bench. FWIW, I saw him play last year for Wofford @ Drake.

Had a clone cone.

Saw Cy!

Had a tear in my eye when they showed the Purdy commercial and highlights.

Hilton is my Happy Place.

Let's Go State!
You need to take in more games! :D

We have tie breaker over ku. I hate to say it go ku.
Between this and the fact that Baylor losing means the 4 teams ahead of us in the AP would've lost today, I feel like I should be rooting for Kansas. But I also still kinda believe they're still somehow going to win the conference title this year and until they are mathematically eliminated I'm sure they will.

I'm a mixed bag in March. Over the years, I have seen the Cyclones beat UCLA @ Auburn Hills, beat UConn @ Louisville, lose to Ohio State @ Dayton, lose to UAB @ Louisville and lose to Virginia @ Chicago. So, I think my one or two games a year @ Hilton is the safer play. :)

I will cheer for Baylor in the rematch in March.

That wasn't the best game we've played all year but it was never really in doubt either. Hopefully Cincinnati used up alot of energy today in their loss and we'll be fresher Tuesday.

Great win today. Not sure there is another team in the country that pressures the ball like ISU. They are always looking to double-team the ball handler if the opportunity presents. Although the opponent sometimes gets good looks if they break the pressure, more often than not it results in a turnover or keeps the other team from running their offense. Personally, I can’t recall another ISU team that was so disruptive on defense. TCU was visibly frustrated most of the game.

Really starting to love our guard play, the outside shooting is getting better, and if you are going to beat ISU, your guards better be solid with the ball. TCU's guards really struggled with the pressure that ISU was putting on them, speeding up their shots and forcing them in the errors and turnovers.

Big week ahead, both on the road at Cincinnati and Houston, a split keeps us in the race, win both and we are in the driver's seat.

Go Cyclones

Case in point, the Texas backcourt (Hunter and Abmas) against ISU this week: 3/19 fg shooting with 13 points and 7 TOs combined.

Today they were 14/25 fg shooting with 38 points and 1 TO combined.

What it does a lot is make the other team hurry shots because they aren't used to being open, and gets them out of rhythm. That first half might be the best defense we've played all year.
