And yet, I'll gamble on Jackson having a year in the program and another year of development, as opposed to starting over and hoping to hit the jackpot. Especially at a position that costs so much $$ in the NIL era.
Hope your right, I would personally let him walk if his NIL deal is as high as I have heard. Find a defensive oriented athletic big in portal.

Bedtime for you…
Sometimes the truth hurts, but must be said. These guys are now professional athletes getting paid very well to perform. It goes with the territory when you are making more than most of the people sitting in the stands. It's easy to say we had a good season, but like any fanbase we wanted and expected more, than a 20-2 run and shooting the ball like we did tonight for the first 35 minutes of the game.

I seriously dislike Danny Hurley, but I get super envious watching UCONNs offense/sets as well as BYUs. They appear to have more player movement which allows for their players to get better looks. Our pick-&-roll and running a player off staggered screens or our horns sets just seem so rudimentary versus the other teams.
our team is just built differently and with less money. We had a good thing going before all the injuries.

Your best defender who is a pest is playing at less than optimal and your 2nd best defender who is an absolute pest was absent. I wouldn't be surprised if Gilbert is worth 8-10 points defensively and Lipsey worth another 6-8 over the performances we got.

Likewise Gilbert is worth points over Kelderman offensively if for no other reason than being able to drive and kick to shooters. Kelderman effectively makes it 4 on 5 on both ends.

Love him or hate him, Gilbert was a HUGE loss.
This. KG (and a healthy Tamin) are what made ISU defense so formidable in the first half of the season. If they are both available and 100%, this game would have been a lot closer.

Going forward, the team probably needs 1-2 more fast, physical perimeter defenders than they had this season just to provide the depth TJ's style demands.

Curtis Jones is big shoes to fill. We need a relentless scorer and those aren't cheap.
Next year really important, we have one guy now getting minutes that will be here in 26. we don’t have a real 3 point threat at all right now coming back. Still have some key pieces. Curt is a huge loss, by far our best scoring threat.

So how do you find two guys to replace KG and Curt? Not easy, those guys cost too much.

Our defense early in the season was predicated on Tamin and Keshon pressuring our opponents guards. And when they that did our defense was good.

I think teams figured out how to neutralize ISU's bigs and that hurt the arc even more.

I get the injury justification for our defense this year. But I'm not convinced that's the main reason. Feel our top 8 wasn't 100% committed to the level of effort (and/or ability) required to be an elite defense. In prior years, if our offense stunk in a game, our defense would lock-down and we might win 60-55.

This season was more about winning with offense and it wasn't enough when guys didn't hit jump shots. We didn't have many tough losses in Big12 & Tournament play. When we lost, we lost ugly.

Gotta find depth in the guard court and more athleticism in the front court. We desperately needed a Ward type. Problem is we are looking for the same thing every other damn team needs too
If you're making 6 figures in college life is pretty comfortable.
This statement probably didn't need to be made but I'm not deleting it.
I believe the guys are taking this loss worse than we are but some of us have watched ISU sports for a long time.
