Quotes from the OSU Forum - hilarious:

"Monte Morris thug beyotch"

"Every time we play them we miss easy shots and they hit literally everything. They aren't that good but we make them look like a championship team. It's ridiculous."

"We win by 5 in a high scoring game. Iowa State won't shoot as well as they did last game."

This forum is filled with similar or worse proclamations every game thread.

Duke/Lou game tight.

Fun week once you get past all of the oversized conferences' first rounds.
I have been holding my tongue about the way these big conference tournaments are bracketed. Take the 14 team big 10. I realize you can only have 4 games a day at a single venue however why do you need to have so many teams play 2 games more than your top 4 seeds? It is stupid because a really easy road is given to your teams that are already comfortably in the dance while teams that need a run to make it have to win 5 games to get there. Why wouldn't you just give the top two teams a bye and have the 4 teams that are duking it out to face the 1 and 2 seeds (11-14) play on Wednesday, all of the teams who are going to play each other (3-10) on Thursday and all the quarterfinals on Friday, Semi's on Saturday and Final on Sunday. That way everyone has a 4 game road to the championship with the top two seeds only needing to win 3. Much better in my opinion than 4 teams having to win 5 and the 4 top seeds needing only 3. While the bottom 4 teams will get a day off it is a day off before facing a team who hasn't had to play since Saturday so they are even more rested.

Makes sense, but conference alignment in itself doesn't make sense, and I'd assume they have the lowest teams play early for marketing to just get a taste of the rest of the week.

Because oversize conferences suck in almost every way except television footprint.

Ten team round-robin conferences are absolutely the best, most cohesive, sensible arrangement for college sports.

It also gives their bubble teams more 'extra' games to make a positive statement at the end of the year. So yeah, kind of fixed. B1G - if you can't be good, at least be cumbersome.

It continues to be very satisfying to hear writers and announcers continue to say how fun it is to cover ISU basketball, and offer up that this is how basketball should be played everywhere. I think Fran did it specifically today, but the crew who did the OSU and Baylor games in Ames did so as well.

They aren't wrong. I feel bad for Big Ten fans.

...I stand before you today to eat some crow.
....to have this team playing incredible basketball down the stretch is awesome. They are night and days difference between what they were a month and a half ago. Hats off to you Coach Prohm.

Could not agree more. CSP has them playing their best ball right now as he has them playing with a great deal of confidence. Mark of a good coach.
Just glad we don't hash the same old crap anymore. (lack of a set offense, bad time out call timing, playing the wrong guys, recruiting the wrong guys, no inbounds plays, no end of game call, etc.)
Congrats to CSP and team for another big time W.

For those wondering why Morris didn't try and get the triple double:

Iowa State's Monte Morris finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists in the Cyclones' win over Oklahoma State. "The best point guard in the country," ISU coach Steve Prohm said of Morris, who was aware of just missing the triple-double but did not want to try for an assist in the final seconds, up nine points. Iowa State instead allowed the shot clock to expire. "You don't play for stats," Morris said. "You play for the win."

Finally got home from work a bit ago. GREAT win today!

I have to apologize somewhat to Monte because for most of the year I didn't think he'd be an NBA player, but I'm thinking I was dead wrong on that. I always thought he was a GREAT college player, I just wasn't sure if his game would translate to the next level or not? I did post in another thread though that I thought he should win the Cousy Award, and I stand by that for sure.

As for the rest of the day, ISU wins, KU loses, and now if Iowa blows this game my whole week will be complete!
