big game tonight for the cyclones...we need to get the easier conference wins while we can and need to help build a resume for the NCAA tourney.
Their starters
PG-Keiton Page (seems like he's been there forever)
SG-Markel Brown
SF-LeBryan Nash
PF-Michael Cobbins
C-Philip Jurick
off the bench
-------------------
PG-Cezar Guerrero
SG-Brian Williams
PG-Reger Dowell
SG-Fred Gulley
PF-Marek Soucek
interesting game, couple things stick out.
1) They have a true PG in Keiton Page, how will we defend it? Personally, I'd have Babb play on him, he's their biggest threat and if we let him get hot from deep we could be in some trouble
2) Olukemi is out. Very good news for our chances in this one, a very good driver that gave us lots of problems in the McD era...glad he's not participating.
3) How will we guard Nash? The guy is a turnover machine so if we can force him to do the usual stupid stuff we could take advantage.
4) Okie St. reminds me of the Brackins, Gilstrap, and DG team...not personel wise but talent wise. That team had the talent to beat anyone yet lose to anyone...and also had a bad coach. Similar story to Okie St. They have experienced guards and a couple of very talented posts, but seem to be poorly coached. We need to take advantage of it and with their style of play, I think it gives us a big advantage. Let's not hope they decide to play a rare game of greatness against us. (Similar to the K-St. a couple years ago), that's the only worry I have.
5) They like to go one-on-one alot...sort of similar to our offense.
Wouldn't mind if we played a box and one and have Babb man-to-man on Page as he's their only deep shooting threat.
This is a good matchup for us...similar style of play, sub-par coaching, and rumblings that Ford is gone after this year.
I'm 3-0 when I make predictions on long posts like this. (Rice, A&M, and Texas) looking to make it four in a row.
