Cangrats on your historic 8-5 year! This must be a dream come true to see Iowa State as a non embarrassment to the state of Iowa!
Regardless of what your uncle dad or your auntie mom taught you........e-i-e-i-o are not the only vowels in the English language.

CBS has Butler going 9th overall to the Bills in their latest mock draft. Very interesting, to say the least. Not sure that would happen but you never know - especially depending on his combine results.

"About that prospect, Iowa State wideout Hakeem Butler: I have a feeling he's going to erupt at the combine and fly up boards as a highly athletic 6-foot-6, 225-pound, contested-catch monster"

This is from the Athletic (subscription needed) but neither Butler or Montgomery is in his Top 50:

I'd have to do some digging, but one of The Athletic writers also didn't have Butler in their mock draft AT ALL...said he wasn't fast enough out of his breaks.

So I'd take what they say with some skepticism.

That's what I've been thinking. I don't know about top ten overall, but I think he's going to rip off some insane numbers at the combine and a lot of teams will be going back to the tape for another look.

I think he has a sub 4.5 40 - not sure where though. If he were to run a 40 time of close to 4.4 (or even under - but that's a lot to ask), shows off his vertical ability AND doesn't drop a bunch of stuff I think he'll rocket to the 1st round. Not dropping catches at the combine will be a big key. He's a naturally gifted athlete regardless.

Also yeah, selfishly I hope he doesn't go to Buffalo or Cleveland or Green Bay. I think anywhere else would be good for me :)

I don't know how a person can have this take with respect to Hakeem when looking at his game tape from the last two years? Only concern is catching the easy ones...

Agree. I think he can clock something in the 4.40-4.45 range. If he does that and shows out in the other tests (lots of teams put more stock in the three cone drill than the 40) he's going to move up the boards. Right now I like him going to the Colts late in the second round, but we'll see how things play out at the combine. He might be off the board sooner than that.

Not that this guy's opinion carries more weight than anyone else's, but he has Butler at #20 on his board. For the tl;dr crowd:

HakeemButler
Wide Receiver
Iowa State, redshirt junior

  • YDS1318
  • YPR21.97
  • TDS9
  • REC60
  • 20+25
HEIGHT/WEIGHT6'6'', 225
AGE22
MAIN SELLING POINTDeep speed for days
Combines the catch radius of a condor with the speed to take the top off a defense; makes hay after the catch.

SHADES OF: Sidney Rice with afterburners, Martavis Bryant
