Babb is at his best when he drives to the rim.
Impressed with all the freshmen, but Tyrese is the total package
Has a goofy looking shot, but it goes in. Really causes a lot of issues in the passing lane.
Great half. Best defense I've seen out of an Iowa State team for a while. There's some logic to recruiting guys with long arms.
I see a lot of Dustin Hogue in Zion Griffin.
I know it is only halftime, but we are up 9 at half on a team that at least has some outside ambition of making a push for the NCAA tournament this year.
We are down 4/5 likely starters to injury (Solomon and Lindell), foul trouble (Shayok), suspension (Lard), and rocking a lineup of mostly freshmen.
Yet, here we are.
That is the most fundamentally sound defense I have seen out of an Iowa State team in at least the past two years, if not even longer than that. Kudos to all of them.
Nick is back to his old form as the AWACs of the offense.
Jacobson is fighting hard on every possession out there.
Haliburton and Griffin are already giving way more than Beverly and Brase ever did.

My half-time observations:
This year's freshmen's D > than last year's freshmen's D
Zion Griffin has great energy off the bench; I was glad that finally one of his outside shots fell. It's just a game and a half but he looks better to me than Lewis.
Michael Jacobson is a fine ballplayer. His defensive awareness and positioning are as good as Solo's and much better than Lard's. The pick-and-rolls and pick-and-pops with him and Babb show promise.
Halliburton is contributing WAY more than I imagined. His game in the first half was steals, 3's and a dunk. He's putting the Burton in Haliburton

He's been the best so far in both games imo.
One good sign is as ugly as that was, this year things don't seem to be as gridlocked early.
