Yeah, thank goodness we didn't lose to Villanova. Portland was not going to be an easy win especially after an OT loss, and then ISU would be looking at the possibility of a winless tournament.

1. Glad we avoided Portland. No win situation there.
2. Nova is not at full strength which helped us, but at the end of the year on selection Sunday it will go down as a good win for us which is all that matters. Similar to the Tech game last year.

Yeah, unfortunately that win isn't looking as great now. Every game is a new game though... I give us a decent chance to upset UNC if some of our "shooters" like Gabe and Grill are on today.
Some viewpoints:
1) Portland most likely is better than any of our first 3 opponents this season (probably significantly better than at least two of them), so its win over Nova doesn't invalidate ours.
2) If Villanova winds up having a so-so season, it still is unlikely to be below a Q2 opponent, and ISU won (better than losing!).

You called it @Didley - passing the ball around the perimeter and letting Grill shoot will never work.

Well the win at KSU last season 'made' the tourney happen for ISU so maybe we just let the players ride it out?
There was some other doosh who really had it in for Grill yesterday.
Weird that he went away.
Just like how 4 games does not a career make. His last two seasons he shot 34.5% from three. Not excellent, but a far cry from sucking as a three point shooter.
