We don’t necessarily need to attempt a lot of passes on vertical routes or deep passes, but we need to force the opposition to truly commit resources to defend against it. And with a struggling QB, we had a better chance of scoring on a slip-up or missed assignment on those type of routes than we did by dinking and dunking imo.

With a safety over the top good coverage underneath with the speed they have, a struggling qb that is overthrowing or underthrowing becomes a high risk high reward and zeb just didnt have it tonight.

I still believe 1000% in CMC as our head coach! But he's not a good OC. Not hiring one after Manning left was a HUGE blunder. It's pretty obvious.

Everyone is screaming at Zeb, and yes Zeb wasn't great, but in that last series for example we had nobody even running deep routes for him to even throw to, so how is that his fault?

Where was Butler on that last play? 10 yds downfield, well covered, and couldn't make the catch. Where was Eaton a play or two before? On a 10 yd out. Not deep routes at all.

We should have seen nothing but fly patterns on every one of those plays if we seriously wanted any chance at all to try to tie the game. But CMC thought he had time to dink and dunk down the field with no timeouts. Clueless.

He is a young coach learning and gaining everyday. Hardest thing to do is build a good defensive system in the BIG 12, which he has done, the offense will eventually come at some point.

I complete understand the frustration, if we were even above average on offense we would have won plenty more games, offense just needs to improve a little more and we will have wins.

Ah, missed that part of your post above. If we can get similar production as last year in the KU, Tech, OSU games I will be satisfied.
The KU game was somewhat deceiving. The TT game exemplifies the issue of struggling as we get more and more restrictive. Here are the drives for KU and TT with the starters in:

KU:

3 plays, 6 yards, punt

2 plays, 8 yards TD

3 plays, 4 yards, punt

3 plays, 4 yards, punt

8 plays, 31 yards missed FG

9 plays, 46 yards, FG

3 plays, 5 yards, punt

3 plays, 23, TD

3 plays, 0 yards, punt

4 plays, 27 yards, TD

7 plays, 28 yards, punt

5 plays, 35 yards, TD

TT:

4 plays, 15 yards, INT (pick 6)

14 plays, 75 yards, TD

4 plays, 35 yards, punt

6 plays, 30 yards, FG

4 plays, 25 yards, TD

10 plays, 80 yards, TD

9 plays, 23 yards, missed FG

3 plays, 1 yard, punt

7 plays, 50 yards, punt

3 plays, 9 yards, punt

6 plays, 72 yards, end of game
