No. It’s also a bad look for the offense. What does it say to you, as an offensive player, that the coach puts more trust in a freshman kicker that has missed twice already, than for your group to get half a yard? I think he’s losing the locker room and culture.

It says “you guys have played like trash today” and he wouldn’t be wrong. X had his chance, refuses to just cut up field.

The day is fast approaching where we probably don't have to be worried about Campbell getting poached. Sad but true
That worry is probably off the table for this year for the big names after a disappointing year last year and what could be a really bad year this year.

Does one of the most sought after coaches remain that after his team **** the bed last year with all the returning players, loses to Kansas and will be lucky as hell if he gets 4 wins this year?
Honestly I’m still glad to have him, but the answer is no.

This. It isn’t even 4th and 1. The fact that a QB sneak isn’t even in our offense is a fire able offense.
I think the year we had Joel Lanning is like the only year in recent history where we had an automatic first down package in short yardage situations.

I don't know why we don't have something like that every year.

Storm the field because your opponent missed 3 Field Goals. Huh.
If you’re the Jayhawks you do. Don’t worry, their balloon is going to burst sooner rather than later. We had 9 more first downs, 100+ more total yards, played like azz and STILL almost won the game

Iowa normally has legit kickers. They always have kickers who are money from within 40 yards. All day.

You are correct they do.

I really think CMC put that kicker in a tough spot. Sure......it's what he was recruited for. But him doinking it twice had to be messing with his head. I don't think one person here would have questioned going for it.

I've seen pro coaches after their kicker has struggled in a game go for it in situations they normally wouldn't.

Matt Campbell starts 3-0 for the first time in 7 years. Loses next two. Lance Leipold starts 5-0 in year 2. Hey guys, he might not be that special.
I was thinking something similar to this. How borderline embarrassing is it that Leipold is getting KU turned around in under 2 years, a program that was a complete and total trainwreck, dumpster fire et. all, and Campbell has yet to truly have a breakout season in 6+seasons? Kansas is catching and surpassing us.

4th and inches. You get up and QB sneak it for a 100% for sure 1st down. You do it 1000 times out of 1000. It isn’t hard. It really isn’t.
Yeah, considering when we do it with our backfield in the end zone they feel it works. Just don't get why we don't on 3rd and 4th and inches. They did it twice today and got a yard.

The fact that you can’t get under center is an enormous problem. Even if you weren’t going to go for it, you have to get under center if you’re trying to make them jump. The threat is 10 times more real if you’ve got a 250 pound quarterback giving a hard count and he’s right in your face. As a D lineman, you feel like you need to have your timing exact. 5 yards back…eh…got time.
