Mess probably convinced Rhoads he had a great play and that's why West called a fair catch. Rhoads should read CF during the game to know why that won't work.
Not as close as the score. Sam is going to need to get a lot better quickly. He was badly outplayed by Rudock who was put in a situation to succeed.
Nah. The game overall was pretty much a dumpster fire. I already told one of my friends "lightly" rubbing it in that he should feel bad the score was as close as it was.
On a positive note, the offense eventually showed up, and QB was amazing. Makes me wonder if we just said **** it and opened up the offense after it was over? Amazing how close that disaster of a game ended up. D did reasonably well at times, but our line just got knocked too far off the ball game. We need to score 30 to have a chance to win this year.
This. If I'm Iowa, I'm not bragging about this one. Of course, they will because they are dumb. And in-bred. And missing a chromosome.
On the positive side our offense seemed to take off in the 2nd half once Richardson and the receivers started getting in sync. Also our D doesn't match up against a power run team like Iowa. They're designed to combat these fast spread Big 12 offenses.
On the negative side almost every team we play for the rest of the year will be much much better than Iowa on offense...

I don't understand calling the zone read when you know the QB can't run. Spread it and throw it, or call designed runs.
On post-game, Bruns said we need to schematically find way to get tailback involved or forget it and sling it around. Agreed.
