Seems like the Karaban attention has shifted to Anthony Black (Milwaukee connection) and Demarion Watson (Coach Green connection)

Unsure with the COVID super seniors but I think we have one spot open for the class of 2022. Then you can expect a couple transfers. Maybe three more guys, already set at PG (Unless Hunter goes pro). Need a big in the class and then some wing/stretch players which is exactly what Black and Watson are

Transfers go both ways. If ISU does loose a player or 2, TJ can use the portal to fill the need on the team with an experienced option. With Lipsey and King committed the staff can focus on a couple of priority high level targets this fall. TJ can re-evaluate in the spring and see what he would want to add.

Maybe I’m being overly optimistic but I feel like the lack of Karaban/ISU talk could be due to us feeling good about where we’re at with Watson

If so, would that be because they play similar positions or roster would be too crowded if we liked both?

I think it’s a combo of them playing similar positions (big wing/stretch 4) and it sounding like the staff’s plan is to take one more HS commit for this class

I was all in on Watson after Ryan James compared him to Rodney Williams on a podcast with Hines. I loved watching that guy for the Gophers.

Dont recall. How did Rodney Williams play? What were his main strengths?

I don't mind the staff pursuing Anthony Black even if he is a long shot. Given the current state of the transfer portal there's about a 25% chance he'll be looking for a new home in a year or two anyway, and the prior relationship will set us up to get him on the rebound.

I really want him now that he's a five star. (maybe not as much of a long shot as people think)

Anthony Black got a huge bump by 247 as expected. Now a 5 star

Yes I like cake and coffee. We can have our cake and coffee too. Or something like that.

It's possible, and to get him just so KU doesn't is reason enough, ha.

He didn't want to visit till the fall. If there is still interest. He will be here. But I think we will be filled before next month so it won't matter.
Has there been any news on how the Watson visit went? I hadn't seen anything here or even scanning through Gopherhole. Doesn't seem like the kid is in any rush and we seem to be sitting in at least a co-lead position. Seems like a perfect fit for what's left to fill out in the class.

It went well. I think he's planning to commit in the fall and sooner rather than later. ISU is in good shape, but not a lock right now.
